Normally I dislike Francesca, but its hard to disagree with him in that rant.

It's embarrassing.

The Red Sox are about to trade Gonzalez, Beckett, Crawford and Nick Punto to LAD. What the **** are they doing over there?

I don't know, I understand that you wanna make changes when the success isn't there, but this looks like doing it for the sake of doing it.

I can understand wanting to get rid of Beckett and Crawford, but Gonzalez? I know his power hasn't been there this year, but I feel like that's something they will regret.

Don't have an affiliate, Dodgers are probably the closest, but I don't like the idea of adding those players. (Exception Gonzalez)

Hopefully they keep Gordon, Billingsley.

So glad that Bostons gonna trade A-Gon. Beckett needs to go though, and if they can get out of that Crawford contract than good for them. I do like Crawford but that contracts just a disaster.

Losing Gonzalez hurts, but their GM can probably do some trades during the off season with all of the prospects they got back.

Could see them going after Justin Upton who seems like he will be available. Also have to imagine at some point the Rockies will trade Carlos Gonzalez for a large haul.

Will they accuse CarGo of drinking beer and eating chicken in the club house when his numbers plummet away from Coors Field?

Wow, just saw his splits for just this year, 387 at home, 235 on the road. Playing at Fenway would probably keep his home numbers still pretty good. I mean look at a guy like Cody Ross who is hitting 307 with 13 homers at Fenway compared to on the road where he is hitting 233 with 6 homers.

Los Angeles is really going for it this year. They've made serious moves. Even more serious if this deal with Boston goes through.

sabathia and swisher contributing to a much needed yankee win. Fantastic performance by sabathia and they needed it cause again the yankees had trouble scoring runs. Swisher driving in all three runs. Even though i was never a big swisher fan he has been very solid this year and has contributed in alot of big wins.

Going into last season, the Sox had the best team I've ever seen on paper. Unfortunately, that's all it was. Paper.

The demise of that team is truly fascinating.

Forget the splits -- AGon raked at PETCO for years and that park is arguably the best pitcher's park in baseball.

This is a tremendous move by Cherington. As happy as I am to see the Red Sox resemble a pathetic organization, the poor guy inherited an absolute mess from Epstein. Not only does he save the team money, but he gets some really good pieces to develop.

No matter what, Boston is going to be mediocre for a very long time.

I can't believe the Dodgers are bailing the Red Sox out of those bad contracts. This can't be serious.
I can't imagine a team doing this to help the Yankees. .

Expect the Sox to be non contenders for awhile. Prospects are hit or miss.
The FA market is getting thinner and thinner every year, as teams re-sign their players.

Good luck to teams that are rebuilding.

I don't see it as the Dodgers bailing out the Red Sox. Do you realize how much better the Dodgers just got? They gave up one player who's name casual baseball fans actually know, James Loney. They gave up crap, and got Gonzalez, Crawford, Beckett, and Punto. Dodgers just became the favorites to win the National League, if not the World Series.

Funny, because people around Boston felt the same thing at the beginning of last year.

That whole team was dysfunctional. And these players are being added to a Dodgers team that is playing great baseball already. They aren't being brought in to make the team a contender, they're being added to what is already a contender.

The Dodgers have so many pieces now. It's incredible, actually.

A contender for what? The 2nd wild card? They just got swept by the Giants at home.

Dodgers have been boringly mediocre since their hot start.

26-33 since mid-June. That's two months of baseball.

All this trade does is increase their chance at one of the wild cards. The Reds and Nats are still the favorites to play for the pennant.

Without exaggeration, the Yankees leave the bases loaded 3 times a night.

Beckett is a cancer. I wouldnt want him on Yanks. Average pitcher that is owed 34 mill over next 2 seasons. Crawford is owed 120+ mill and both him and Beckett were close to unmovable. Gonzalez was sacrificed to get rid of 2 horrible contracts.

Yes Dodgers got better especially if Carl Crawford can come back healthy at some point in 2013 but that's a ton of cash tied up to a handfull of players. Next year Gonzalez/Ethier/Hanley/Crawford/Beckett/Kemp will cost Dodgers close to 110 mill. Only 9 teams had a higher 2012 team payroll than 110 mill. They still need to sign Kershaw longterm.

As of now Dodgers have 192 mill commited for next season. That's a lot of $$$.

what else is new. they are the easiest team in the majors for a pitcher to pitch to when they need to get out of a jam.
