Thankfully it looks like Morrow isn't any worse for wear after getting hit in the leg last outing.

Sadly it doesn't look the same for Encarancion, but if the offence can continue to play like it did tonight, that might not be as bit of a loss as we might first guess.

Farrel hinted that Gomes could play if EE is out again.

What is the general consensus on what the Jays need to do at the deadline to help in the quest for a playoff spot? Add a bat? Shore up the bullpen? Just not quite sure what area the team is lacking in

If anything it would be another solid starting pitcher. I'm not so sure they they to do anything, though. If this group of guys can get there, then great, but i don't think now is the time to start moving prospects to shore up the big club.

i think the offense is more than sufficient enough..addition of Vlady will help..i would like to see another SP added because chances are one of the younger guys is going to falter..looks like Drabek at the momemt, i would also like to see another arm in the bullpen, i hate to say this but i think cordero is slowly becoming respectable..who knows maybe he is just overweight and needed to get back in shape..will see

Not too sure either. His production is only slightly better against left-handers but nothing to write home about.

Maybe they're trying to kick start him a little.

I knew it would be too good to be true, one day Farrell looks like a genius, the next..well..(insert adjective here)

I don't see what the big deal is.

He has three right handed bats in a row against a tough leftie. It's not all that unusual. JP makes more sense as a clean up hitter than Escobar or Gomes.

I don't think it's that crazy to shift guys around in the order depending on the opposing pitcher while EE is out with his injury.

FWIW, JP has the 2nd best OPS against lefties among regular starters on the team (behind only Encarnacion) and has a better or equal OBP than multiple regulars like Bautista, Escobar, Davis, or Rasmus. For all the complaints that there doesn't seem to be a big bat at the plate when guys are on base, Arencibia is one of the guys in the lineup who is a home run threat whenever he's at the plate

It looks bad on the surface, but there does appear to be a method to the madness.

The Lawrie move last night was unconventional but boy did it work. Hopefully JPA can come through with some big hits as well.
I like Farrell and I think he is a good manager but those 3 defensive errors have to be remedied. They were just ugly, ugly concentration errors. Usually wins don't come so handily with that many. Its been happening enough to put the managers on the hook now IMO. Don't know exactly all what game day prep is like but defiantly should be stressing basic fundamentals Keep your heads in the game and be aware of your surroundings. Not that I think their not doing this already.

the line-up looks funny without EE. He's been the straw that stirs the drink this year. Was pleasantly surprised at the amount of offense without him in the line-up

Quote from Farrell about EE. (Via Shi Davidi's twitter) Makes me think we won't be see him until at least Friday. Must have got him worse than it looked originally. want him to get nice and healthy before i start using my all-star selection votes. if not I guess I will have to burn votes on Bautista.. ding dang it

I love Lawrie, he's my favourite player, but gets caught stealing way too often for my liking.

Two pop ups and poor base running in the first inning. Sometimes you just get a feeling very early that it's going to be a long night.

Lawrie picked off and caught.

So uhh, when can they take away his green light?

I know lawrie wants to be a threat on the basepaths, but he's gotta stop running into outs like that.

Jays rule!

Now that I've mentioned baseball, I have a question. Brian Burke has been in Toronto four years now and has never even come close to acquiring a first line centre. How is it the Kings were able to get both Mike Richards and Jeff Carter in the same season? I mean, are Leaf fans going to be sitting around saying: "WTF?" When they watch the Kings win the Cup tonight?

Anyway, Go Jays!

I love the amount of rookies on this roster getting time this year: Lawrie (essentially a rookie), Gomes, Cooper, Hutchison, Alvarez, Drabek.
