$17.5 million for Connolly, Lombardi, Komo and Army. I don't know for the life of me why you'd include Liles in that Mess.

What would we do with the cap space? Sign more overpaid free agents? Perhaps we can trade for unwanted contracts (getting decent young players in return).

Could just be posturing to urge a better return, but I'd be willing to give up a half-decent package for him. I imagine Colborne/MacArthur + Franson + 2012 3rd or something along those lines would be about as good a return as they can ask for given the circumstances.
i bet they do have more than one offer and they go something like this ... lombardi OR armstrong OR connally OR komisarek

Then we can trade the young guys away for more overpaid players on their last legs... Spinning wheel got to go round...

I think that the question was about the real world.

When I post in this thread, that's the world that concerns me. If I question ideas somewhere else, I'll address them there. No cross referencing allowed that's why we have a thread system.

Colborne + Ashton + Schenn + Komiserek for Luongo

You guys keep your best prospect in Kadri, you dont pay any crazy high price like Gardiner or the 5th. Cap wise it's a wash.
You're not mortgaging the future for Luongo since you add a very good prosepct - the 5th overall to Kadri..you make the playoffs...and can ride Luongo into the post season for next 4 or 5 years.

CAnucks do this because they get a couple of decent prosepcts to help with the eventual rebuild 3 or 4 years from now. Schenn can play with Tanev in the bottom pairing. (replace Salo)

Everyone wins

So we trade our 4 biggest players for an aging goalie at a time when Burke says they want to get bigger and are targeting players in a similar age group.

Brilliant.

I don't think it's that far-off, value-wise. IMO take out Colborne and that's a pretty good deal, maybe add a pick in next year's draft or something like that.

you just asked for 2 of our top prospects and 1 proven young top 4 dman plus a salary dump for a 15 year contract...

Burke didn't add schenn to move to 1st to get #1 overall a few years ago and you think he's going to put him in a deal for a 15 year 50 mil or w/e it is contract?

With Harding getting signed, Burke would be smart to go after Matt Hackett. I have full confidence in his starter potential but he would not be cheap.

Toronto would still be better off paying what Gillis wants to have paid for Luongo and then riding this Leafs team to the 2013 summer free agency where they'll have plenty of cap to completely change the team.

As promising as Colborne looks, i have to believe that Vancouver would have NO interest in him. They are set down the middle, why do you think they just gave away Hodgson. It would take something like a skilledwinger or a LH defensemen. Most of these propasal don't take into account Van needs, rather than who we can dump on them, which is just silly and not realistic at all. Does anyone really think they will just take something they have no need for, plus a salary dump. I think VAN won't get very substantial offers for Lu, but will look to fill needs regardless. The gave Hodgson in an effort to fill a need of grit/toughness, they will do the same with Lu.

Macurthur+Franson
Kardi+Holzer,
something with moderate value, that still makes sense for VAN.

Who is Vancouver's 3rd line center? And with Kesler hurt again, who is their 2nd line center?
