I think Monster will surprise us all in the NHL one day soon.

I agree. And if that happens, we're likely to watch two goalies that could've been...What with Thomas taking a sabbatical, it's going to be rough watching Rask shine.

I hope the best for Gus. Wish it was with Toronto.

who is to say all these 'offers' are even from those teams?

rangers = lundvist
boston = rask
pitssburgh = fleury/vokoun
philly = bryzgalov
washington = neuvirth/ holtby
ottawa = anderson/lehner/bishop
buffalo = miller
tampa = linbeck
caroloina = ward
islanders = nabakov/diepetro + some good goalie prospects
montreal = price

florida = thoedore BUT have markstrom a year or 2 away
new jersey = brodeur MAYBE has one or two seasons left
winnipeg = maybe if pavelec bolts
toronto = reimer/ scrivens >>>>>>obviously most desperate

in the eastern conference i count 4 teams total who "might" be interested in luongo. of the 3 teams not including toronto i find it hard to believe they would have actual interest.

why would florida take on a goalie with 10 years left when they have the best goalie prospect in the world. they are better to let theodore do his thing for another season or so rather then tie up so much money on a bandaid.

jersey probably would have the 2nd most interest behind toronto i would think seeing as brodeur is getting up their. i question whether lou would want 2 players signed for so long when he still has parise to deal with????

winnipeg would only have interest if pavalec wont resign but i find it hard to believe they wont work something out.

in the western conference;

st louis = halak/ elliot
pheonix = smith
nashville = rinne
detroit = howard
LA = quick/benier
calgary = kipper
dallas = lehtonen
colorado = varlyamov
minnesota = backstrom/harding

chicago = crawford/ emery.....maybe they would want an upgrade but i cant see gillis moving luongo to their biggest rival
san jose = neimi - perhaps they would want an upgrade and shore up the goalie situation although i didnt think neimi did that bad last season
edmonton = dubnyk....why would lou want to go to edmonton?
columbus = need goalie as much as leafs but why would lou want to go to ohio????

based on the above breakdown of teams and their goaltending situation i figure there is a maximum of 8 teams who could/should be kicking the tires on luongo. of those 8 there are probably only 3) who are serious (toronto, colombus, jersey). the others would probably consider it under the right circumstances but the question also remains of these 8 teams how many would luongo actuall agree to waive his ntc to?

It seems this is a thread made to bash Luongo, and for Leafs fans to rant about Canucks fans overvaluing their players (which 29 teams say about the Leafs)

Also, if a team is guaranteed to be stuck with Luongo, then howcome we are talking about him being traded? A lot of you are using his contract as a negative, but there is a reason these contracts aren't allowed anymore - they ARE team-friendly. He gets paid less then market-value and cheaper than some other goalies, he is willing to waive his NTC, and when he retires, his cap is off the books. GM's know that he would retire or be willing to be traded, before he became an issue for the team. There really is no risk with his contract, unless Luongo refuses a trade or refuses to retire, but He's a former NHL captain - just not happening.

Exactly, which why is i am kind of surprised at how little value some Leafs fans seem to put on Lou. I would even venture to say that barring any other significant moves, they will likely miss the playoffs again without him. Just my opinion, but who knows.

98%?

At least it went up 8% from that other guy's tweet.

Where do they pull these percentages from?

If a deal sending Lou to TML cant be struck..i'd like to see the leafs try to get Eddie Lack. This guy is the next Cory Schneider...
I think he's better than anything the leafs have in their system.
He's seen as one of the best if not the best goalie in the AHL.

Oh, you Canick fans. We all know Scrivens was the better AHL goalie this year.

I think that he is referring to the 192 i's and t's in the trade contract, with 188 of them being dotted or crossed yields a 98% completed deal. Or just blowing smoke out of his gargantuan ***, either or.

if it's med reports they're waiting on that means one of Colborne or Kadri are involved, right?

Lots of arguments for high and low value, I think in the end, it's moderate. I might disagree slightly with what this thread maker describes as moderate, but it's quibbling.

High Value
- premier, top 5 goalie in prime of career
- leader, great in dressing room
- can handle the immense media pressure with dignity and aplomb and style (*** DO NOT underestimate this quality, IMHO this is gold for a city like Toronto)
- although the term is long, the cap hit and contract are very team friendly

Low Value
- Vancouver has two starting goalies, wants to get value for Luongo while they can, and everyone knows it
- Luongo has publicly stated he wants out (diplomatically, but still)
- debateable, but perhaps he is on the downslide from here on
- his no-trade clause and very short list of teams he'd be willing to go to
- main rumoured destination is Toronto, so already a hundred thousand articles and rumour reports have circulated

What I see going to Vancouver
- definitely a big defenceman, this is where Toronto and ancouver are a great fit, so that probably means Franson, or Komisarek
- maybe a center for Vancouver's third line, and that means Lombardi, Connolly, or even Colbourne

So using the above players, I see something like
Franson, Lombardi and a 3rd

or, something like
Komisarek, Connolly and a 2nd

or more unlikely,
Schenn, Colbourne
