I'm glad we'll have both English and French radio stations. Good stuff

990 still exists for now. The switch to 690 is for better sound quality and greater signal strength.

Who cares?

All we want is the Biosteel clip with the Galchenyuk goal.

Where does it say that we're gonna have both stations? As far as I know, if the merger happens, legally it wouldn't be viable. I haven't seen an article saying that the move to 690AM would result in TSN690 continuing their operations after the merger.

Unless there has been a serious reversal of the situation, the fact that 990 becomes 690 has nothing to do with the CRTC rule that the Team690/990 will no longer be allowed to be an English station because Bell Media has purchased Astral.

In other words, they may have changed frequency for better coverage, but they are still going to be transformed in a french station, RDS radio.

Huh...I am on the south shore and I am not getting 690. I tried on 3 different radios that I have - every other station was coming in, even US AM stations.

What the heck? 990 still comes in loud and clear.

Anyone else have this problem?

Does someone here know why it is we can't have both a French and English sports radio station? It ain't complicated and would make life easier for all of us. I enjoyed both and would love them back, so that I can concentrate more on studying. Seriously, what bs is this ****.

Basically, Bell wants to own every media outlet possible and 1 company can only own so many radio stations in 1 market in that language. It's an idiotic CRTC rule. TSN radio Montreal puts Bell over the English radio limit once their purchase of Astral is completed.

the move to 690 was planned almost a year ago, way before the bell media acquisition bs so sadly this does not mean that tsn radio is here to stay

if it goes through it will become rds 690...

It's not idiotic at all. For once the CRTC is doing what they were put in place to do. Blame it on bell who just won't be content until they have a media monopoly. Everything was fine before they bought astral.

Why does it say in that TSN link that TSN690 will be broadcasting canadiens games, wasn't it already announced that it was back to CJAD?

It will go back to CJAD once TSN690 is shut down, which won't be for a while still.

they just mentioned that they're still at 990 today due to "technical delays" but I don't know...I listen on line.

Working now. I must have been trying during those periods of technical delays.

overlords, it's idiotic to limit it to 3 stations in 1 language for 1 company in 1 market in this day and age when there are radio stations for almost anything. News, talk radio, all kinds of music, sports, traffic, etc.
