we traded dany heatley for about 40 games of marty havlat. that probably hurt a few guys' numbers.

Plus the whole teams numbers were down because our system was idiotic and every decent coach in the league had us figured out.

Clowe's a great player, we haven't soured on him at all, we just realize we can't afford to re-sign him next season (I am pretty confident he would re-sign with the Rangers if you traded for him, he's a stand up guy). Also, we need to get faster, and Clowe is the easiest place to do that.

I too agree with something like:

Clowe + Murray + 2nd

For

MDZ, Hagelin

I didn't think Jeff or Nick were UFAs because Justin sure as shyte isn't signing with the Rangers.

So do the Rangers, and that's why this deal hurts us A LOT MORE than it helps.

I think Hagelin put up Clowe numbers yearly when he develops.

And what makes you so sure of this?

When it comes down to it, the Rangers are the best spot for him, as they need a right handed puck moving defenseman, they need a power play QB, and Schultz is a damn good one at that, Torts plays young kids in big minutes, the Rangers went to the ECF and a very young team, and 2 of his teammates at Wisconsin (McDonagh and Stepan) both play in NY.

I won't claim to know where he's going, but the Rangers have as good of a shot AS ANYONE, and to deny that is just subjective.

He was injured for 10+ games. When he is on he is a very dominant foward both physically and offensively.

So, uh, who's driving Clowe to the airport?

Wilson would be in jail for grand theft if this trade went through. We'll need to add AT LEAST our 1st and then some to make this fair.

Yes, Clowe was THAT bad last year.

Right, but having a guy like Clowe in the top-6 of your lineup is very rare. I'm not saying the OP is fair, but for a few years now, Rangers have been asking about Clowe.

Injuries, injuries, and more injuries.

He's really not available. He's exactly what the Sharks need more of.

No, that's not an invitation to offer us Gaborik.

He isn't available as Jux said. He has world class speed, which we need more of. That is why are interested in Hagelin. Clowe for Hagelin and a 2nd seems fair.

You guys can run these top lines:
Gaborik Richards X as the skill line
Clowe Callahan Dubinsky as the power line

Kreider-Stepan-Clowe
Dubinsky-Anisimov-XXX

Would be a better lineup than yours. Clowie would protect the kids.

Clowe is not what the Rangers need.

They need a gamebreaker, Rangers won't be giving up untouchables like Hagelin for a guy like Clowe.

How in the hell is Hagelin an untouchable? He had 3 points in 17 games. Clowe is a proven playoff performer.

Sounds like you want Rick Nash and his massive contract.

Aren't Richards and Gaborik gamebreakers?

He came in from college and lost his legs early not being used to playing over 40 games. He lost his most useful asset - speed.

The same thing happened to Stepan in the playoffs last year.

Hagelin, even after losing his legs late in the season, had 38 points in 64 games. Clowe had 45 in 76. Hags also ended up a +21 on the season, being one of our better two way guys. He worked well with Richards and Gaborik and worked well when he was away from them. He's going to be an extremely useful role player for us. I realize Clowe adds a physical prescence, but he's also older and will be more expensive than Hagelin, who is still on his ELC.

He fit into our top 6 well this past season. We aren't a team looking to give away pieces of our team that look important to the future. We're looking to add by using prospects, picks and pieces that no longer serve as important a need (such as Dubinsky).

Clowe was injured practically all season. He just played through it which IMO was a huge mistake. he came back too soon. Hagelin ended up with so many points because of an unreal 10.7% on-ice shooting percentage. Clowe, on the other hand, had just a 7.1%.

I'm glad that Hagelin will be an extremely useful role player. But Clowe is an extremely useful scoring player. Imagine if you'd had Clowe instead of Hagelin in the playoffs this season.

And Stepan had a horrible playoffs this season too, so that argument is pretty poor.

Thoughts?
dude posters thought my Dubi and Anisimov for Clowe and Handzus was a good deal for the Sharks

In the end I would move Dubi and AA for Clowe as long as more comes back..........Rangers would need a good 3rd liner and a pick back

I would love to see Clowe, Richards,Gaborik

no chance Hags or DZ go anywhere
