If I were the Coyotes it would be a big no. 4 years of Yandle>>>1 possible year of Staal. And a #1 D has a lot more value than a #2 center IMO.

And yeah...not very original

This only makes sense if the Pens can move Martin and one of Michalek/Orpik. Despres is NHL ready now and Morrow will be very soon.

As I said in the other post, the sticking point would be, whether Staal is wiling to go to and extend with a franchise in transition as much as PHX, if he does, Yandle for Staal is a solid offer. I don't particularly want any of the other things coming from PHX here, but as long as it does not involve more core players, I am open to tinkering with it.

Brutal proposal for Phoenix..I'd think they'd much rather keep Yandle than acquire Staal. Staal's a very good 2C, but Yandle's a great 1D.

Massive overpaymnet from the Pens....I wouldn't give up Staal alone for that.

Nah, I'd aim for OEL or Gormley.

I'm a Pens fan...and can safely tell you OEL is off limits for everyone outside top tier players. We are talking Crosby/Malkin type players. Since nobody will give them up, Phoenix keeps OEL for as long as they possibly can.

If we could move martin id be all for this trade. Yandle would look great with Letang.

Disagree. Under Bylsma's system, Letang plays well as a checking, stay at home defender. They would be a lethal top pairing, especially at even strength. Orpik/Michalek round out the top 4 quite nicely, especially with Despres/Morrow/Engelland/Niskanen competing for spots

I think you get the best out of both Letang and Yandle if they're allowed to jump into the play.

Not trying to be a dick but how many games did you actually watch? Letang joins almost every rush. Or maybe you and I just have an extremely different idea of what "stay at home defender" means. Scuderi is a name that comes to mind when I hear that, not Letang.

I'm not too familiar with Yandle but it sounds like he really likes jumping into the play too; you're always going to be holding one back when you put them together.
