I suspect that these guys haven't received any tough love like Nazem Kadri for the simple reason that decisions on their futures have already been made. They're being treated as lost causes. Management shouldn't need to wake them up to play with some pride nor should management expose any other more young players to the poisoned well.
the thing is - why?
(I mean, WHY bring the kids up?) they are in a positive atmosphere, knowing what it is like to push for something and building that bond. Why cripple the Marlies by bringing up the more talented guys?
(and then watching these guys give what they perceive as "Maximum effort.") if they were both out - i'd totally be all. "everyone get out, we're just playing Marlies").
but what i'd do at this moment is sit Phil down. and Lupul. as one is barely scoring and one hasn't had a goal in 201 what are they actually going to do? not score more?
I think we should at least give guys like Frattin and Leivo a few games here at the end.
I don't see any harm in letting guys like Nylander, Brown, Leipsic, etc. play a game or two. I think it will give them some perspective as to what the game in the NHL is like and it will allow them to train and prepare better I think.
It might be kind of a shock to just expect someone to start the season with an NHL team when they've never played a game in the NHL. If they have a few games of experience, they will know what to expect and they can get mentally prepared to play the game at that level.
And in reference to the OP, yes they should sit. But play the other lines rather than bring up kids. First of all, the kids need to be isolated from this. Second, the kids might put forth enough effort to win them a couple of games and thus screw up their chances in the lottery.
Absolutely no reason, besides people just wanting to see them in the NHL right now, to bring up anyone aside from injury replacements. Nylander, Brown, and most of the guys on that team are still learning the pro game. The only thing they'll learn up here is how to lose.
Do not bring up any of our future core players. DO NOT. Jokinen noted how vitriolic it was after 1 game. It can't have gotten any better. Just ride out the rest of the season, make the necessary moves in the offseason.
For the fans, guys March Madness is currently on, there is no need to watch this for the next week.
No point in mixing things up now or trying to send messages. Simply put, this team is broke and at this point it helps us little to try and fix it. Worst thing we can do for the future of this team is to send them a message that actually gets through and causes them to win any games...we need them to lose and lose often to keep out high draft pick in tact.
