Deadmarsh to FO, Army new assistant coach

From the Denver Post:

Quote:
Adam Deadmarsh, the popular former Avalanche player who served as an assistant coach last season, has stepped down from the job to take a different position with the team.

Deadmarsh will now work in the player development office, under director Craig Billington. Tim Army, formerly the Avs' video coach, will take Deadmarsh's spot on the bench next to assistant Sylvain Lefebvre and head coach Joe Sacco.

The Avs said Deadmarsh wanted to make the change in jobs for family reasons. He and his wife, Christa, have two young daughters.

Army, 49, is a former head coach of Providence College and the Portland Pirates of the AHL.

Meh. Not a big deal.

We probably have one of the worst coaching staffs in the league.

Probably an improvement. Army has a lot of experience as compared to Deadmarsh.

I'd agree with that. Glad Deader is staying within the organization though.

That was my thinking as well.

seems like a more fitting role for Deader. good to see a former HC with lots of experience being put on the bench, cause i swear Sacco seems clueless at times. sorta like Vinny Del Negro in the NBA.

Pretty surprised at this move, and even more surprised they didn't put Quinn in his place. I wonder if that shows he may not be who they have in mind for Sacco's replacement, or if they value him working with the youngsters over him getting to know the Avalanche players before taking over.

Quinn is doing a pretty good job with our kids in LEM, why mess with that?

Agreed, especially because I felt like last season we were much more prepared for games in terms of scouting than we were the season prior. Pretty sure Army came in last season, no? Eric Lacroix was running video the prior season if I recall.

Considering they'll basically have a full lineup if that happens, I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't hear anything until August when the rest of the RFA's are signed.

I can picture that. It isn't a pretty sight. Nacho fingers all over the keyboard, mountain dew cans all over the desk. Hopefully they put a decent hockey mind in that role.

Deadmarsh was the video coach before Army. Lacroix hasn't been in that position for some time.

It was Deadmarsh, Kono was the other assistant coach.

Ah, he was hired as the "director of player personnel" just found that little tidbit back when Sacco was originally hired.

Doesn't change the original point, but interesting to note.

Doesnt matter who the assistant coaches are when Sacco is still back there. Another yr of getting outcoached game in game out.

I can't wait until daddy Pierre puts Eric in the GM seat. It's just a matter of time
