Isn't that a flat out steal for the Celtics? I'm not a huge b-ball fan so I'm just looking at stats, but Crawford seems like he's a decent player and still young at 25.

I have to believe that Danny was working the phones, but wasn't getting the responses he was looking for. I don't think there is any way he can look at this team and think it's better off going forward with it's current core. I love these guys, but they needed a change. I was hopeful he would either take the Clippers deal that was rumored (which was probably bogus), or move Rondo for a big man.

Not many moves today in the whole league though, so probably everyone was looking to buy low and no one was selling.

Sad, I was hoping for more today.

Still think Dwight Howard will be a Celtic after this year. The guys a tool, but he would certainly help us.

Yes, it is a complete steal. Really surprised to hear they got Crawford, who was a hell of a college player and has shown he can score in the NBA for Jason Collins (Barbosa is a FA after the season, right?).

Expiring contract. it may be tht Terrence Williams, who we just signed to a 10 day, and was activated for the Lakers gm last night gets a chance to fill Collins's role, it would be more surprising if this was Jamal Crawford, not Jordan Crawford from Xavier.

If they could clear most of the team, I'd keep Bradley, Rondo, Green(movable?), and Sullinger. Then push really hard to bring in some combo of the following this summer:

UFA:
Josh Smith
Al Jefferson
Paul Millsap
Samuel Dalembert
OJ Mayo
Andrew Bynum
Greg Oden
Emeka Okafor

RFA:
Brandon Jennings
Tyreke Evans

Via trade:
Demarcus Cousins
Brandon Roy
Kyle Lowry
Danny Granger
Derrick Williams

Based on the results of the trade deadline, this is as far from realistic as can be, but I'd enjoy watching this team (perhaps even to the point where I'd actually watch on a regular basis?).

I think KG will retire this off season PP may follow suit if they do IDK how much cap they will have. They should keep.

Rondo
Bradley
Green
Melo
Sullinger
Crawford

Maybe Lee

UFAs:

Mayo
Jefferson
Okafor

Maybe trade for:
Cousins

This is the guy that originally rose to fame by stuffing one over LeBron James in a confiscated video brouhaha from 2009. More recently, he’s made waves by telling reporters that he feels “like I’m better than” Michael Jordan, referring to himself as a “dominant scorer” and underrated passer, and utilizing his scouting skills to tell us all that, yep, Kobe Bryant actually hisses while on the basketball court.
Oh boy.

I guess with Rondo out, the Celtics had to stay within the league's idiot quota.

Concerning Howard, when has Boston EVER been a premiere destination for the top free agents? It never has and never will. The Celtics get their stars thru trades and drafting.

Secondly, why would Howard even want to come here. Aging team, with not a lot in terms of young players to look forward too.

in basketball terms, I agree. I don't think we have ever landed a big name free agent.

If KG retires, I can see Howard being interested because Rondo will get him the ball, and isn't that what the issue is in LA? Anyway, I'd rather we go a different direction.

I can't stand Howard. He is the poster child in my opinion of the worst aspects of the NBA. I would hate to see Howard associated with the Celtics. It's hard to take the league seriously when the players choose who their coach will be.

I don't like Rondo either. I think it was last year (or the year before) when I saw him pretty much quit on the C's in a playoff game due to his ridiculously large ego.
