Well I don't know why they said it was his old trick...it's a possibility for every team each and every year...

The Toronto Sun??

That's a tabloid.. #1.. #2 it's Quebecor. I don't trust that with a 9 foot clown pole.

Edit: Of course, you may trust whatever source you want

When is the last time a team actually traded down from a top 5 pick?

it would give me tremendous satisfaction and loads of laughs to see the oilers draft murray. it would be like a collective dump of diarrhea on the 'insights' of all the oiler teenage basement GM's on here.

it would be a good pick but also a nice smack down of many

There's a difference betweem political news and sports-news, Mr. Anti-PKP.

The Islanders and the Maple Leafs swapped picks 5th and 7th in 2008.

Quebecor products tend to be terrible for both.

If Gigorenko can go home, play hockey for say $2 mill per season exempt from taxes or play in Montreal where the personal income taxes are second to none in the league while playing under the rookie cap, I'm guess there is a possibility of him jumping ship to play in his homeland & speak his native tongue!!!

There's always a possibility, but it's an odds thing. You have to try to calculate those odds and make a good decision. Usually though, players will at least give the NHL a try and leave if they can't get regular shifts.

With the talk of the Habs possibly trading down from #3 what type of return would everyone here be OK with?

He'd be roasted 'cause 99% of our medias who follow hockey and that draft know NOTHING about the draft whatsoever. Only Stéphane Leroux does and even him is not exactly past the 3rdnd round for the other leagues than the Q. So when you have the chance to draft #3 for a change and you don't....they won't understand it. Some others might find it interesting. Personnally, if Gally isn't there....I'd be tempted to listen. If he's there though....I might not understand it unless....he's still there at our turn which I doubt.

There's a bunch here: http://www.tsn.ca/draftcentre/ if you look at the vids on the right. Is that what you were looking for? There's a big hole in terms of details for the combine. For instance the full result list has not been made available for public consumption.

Nope, don't think they'll ever be. Not sure why.

Trading

I am not in favor or trading down or whatsoever, I'm just pointing out something. If we think that the player we want will be available at let's say 6, there is something good about trading down that no one mentions. (except the asset that we'd add up)

Don't forget that a first pick counts on the cap for 3.775 mill
2nd 3.575
3rd 3.200
4th 3.100
5th 2.795

and so on. If we don't deal Gomez, we might need some cap space.

I still think that we should pick Gally at 3rd, but if TT has Gally and let's say Teravainen equal, we might just trade down a bit.

It all depends on the list, who's been drafted when your pick is up and who you think the teams behind you want. As we've seen in some of the 'behind the scenes' draft videos, GM talk a lot more than we might think and generally have a pretty good idea of who other teams like.

Wouldn't it be great if we somehow land both Yakupov and Galchenyuk.

On one hand, we could be very well off if we end up with Yakupov + Galchenyuk...

on the other hand, it's Subban, our stud defender.

If Habs don't draft Charles Hudon with the 3rd overall pick I foresee more protests throughout the province of Quebec

If Vasilevski is still there at #33, do we pick Vasilevski?

Where do Hudon projects to be drafted at?

I've seen him mostly mid-late second round in mock drafts.

I would keep our second rounders for good forwards that fall out of the first. We can draft a good goalie like Marcoux or houser later
