Beane said they have money set aside to make a deal if they're in contention, I wouldn't mind seeing them look for an upgrade at SS and use Pennington as a utility/defensive replacement.
We definitely need to find a bat to replace Cliff at the plate. Jemile also really needs to get going again... He has had some really poor plate appearances this year with weak grounders left and right. And yes, it's becoming exciting again to be an A's fan!
Can the Giants end the Brandon Crawford experiment? Dude swings at three pitches after Belt walked on four with the bases loaded. Doesn't even grasp the basic concept of taking a pitch after a four-pitch walk...in his first at-bat no less.

Agreed, even though I do like his defense at Shortstop. He's almost as bad as a pitcher when swinging the bat. It's like an automatic out when he comes up. Of course, again, who could take his spot if this experiment does end?

Arias? He isn't much better but seems like he reaches base more

I'd put Aubrey Huff there if it really came down to it. All jokes aside, I just don't like how they've given him the job. He didn't earn it and he's got no competition. They need to replace him immediately. lol

Arias seems to be the logical choice. I kind of wish he was playing more, kind of a reward for his good defense at 3rd and his somewhat average hitting.
I don't know how many of you guys watch them play, but they're a good team that is entertaining to watch. The players on each team really respect one another, which is refreshing to see.
The A's have been awesome coming out of the break. Big tests this next week though. Gotta keep bringing it!
This season has been pretty awesome so far. Offense still has struggled as a whole, but we've got some bright spots in Reddick, Cespedes, Moss. Cris Carter (finally!) looks like he's putting it all together and realizing that power potential. Maybe he'll prove to be more than a Quadruple-A player (small sample size ftw). Pitching completely turned around somewhere around the time Fuentes was stripped from the closers role... thank god, I think that guys putrid performances brought everybody else down or something. Now, in July, sportin' the 9-1 record and 2.16 team ERA. Doubt we'll be able to make up 8 more games on Texas, but maybe we can sneak in as one of the two WCs... even if not, season has already been more enjoyable than most in recent memory since the 2006 ALCS run.

Damn, that late in the season already? I need to pay more attention. I keep meaning to go down for a game.
Same with the Quakes, I need to finally get around to going to a game this season, I watched the second half or so of their game Saturday on TV, that Wondo kid sure is good. They need to start playing more games up at Stanford so tickets get cheaper...
Angels and Rockies fans told us about how much he sucked when the A's signed him. I wanted to think it was sour grapes, but unfortunately, they were right.
Melvin has to be one of the leading candidates for AL coach of the year. This team is just so much fun to watch right now. They pitch great, they field well, and their line-up is finally healthy, and it shows.

I wouldn't mind seeing them give Grant Green a shot at short. He can't be any worse than Pennington. Now what I would love to see is some BB magic to get Castro or Ramirez here

Grant Green left his glove in college. He can't field and would be a nightmare at SS.
If you really want to go for it this year, then you do a deal with the Phillies. Get Rollins and give a little extra in the deal so Philly eats 3 mil of his salary. Good local boy who does want to come home. Also, we need front end of the bullpen help, so Valdes would be good to get in a deal from Philly as well.
Your line-up then looks like this...
Crisp, CF
Rollins, SS
Reddick, RF
Cespedes, LF
Smith, DH
Moss/Carter, 1B
Inge, 3B
Norris, C
Weeks, 2B

I noticed they have moved Green around a bunch lately and have even tried him in the outfield to get his bat in the line up. I just can't stand watching Pennington hit anymore. I might as well go out there and swing with my eyes closed.
I would be happy with Rollins coming in. If Weeks turns things around that would be a solid 1-5, and 6-9 can still hit balls out of the park. SS is where we really need the help, so I'm hoping BB does something there.
I really like the way Chris Carter is playing. He's more aggressive at the plate and using his power to all fields. he can hit it out anywhere. As long as he learns to hit the offspeed pitch, or lay off the bad ones, he should help this team a lot.
