Bozak has to go

Tyler Bozak needs to be moved this off season. Moved off the roster or off the first line, because he clearly isn't working out. He played with 2 of the leagues top scorers and still had a poor year offensively.

Phil Kessel 6th in the league in points (82 games played) 82 points
Joffrey Lupul 30th in the league in points (66 games played) 67 points
Tyler bozak 114th in the league in points (73 games played) 47 points

Its obvious when we watch game play that he just cant keep up with lupul/kessel. He put up 32 points in 82 games in the 2010-2011 season and was a -29, yet for some reason our coaching staff was persistent to play him on the first line. He's clearly not effective enough to play the first line, yet for some reason hes been handed that role.

He was 38th in the league in scoring for centers. That's simply not high enough. To put into perspective how good our no.1 center is ...

Tyler Bozak, 73 games played - 18 G, 29 A, 47 P
Kyle Wellwood 77games played - 18 G, 29 A, 47 P
Sam Gagner 75 games played - 18 G 29 A, 47 P
Frans Nielsen 82 games played - 17 G, 30 A, 47 P

Super star centers

Evgeni Malkin 50 G 59 A 109 P 75 games
Steven Stamkos 60G 37 A 97 P 82 games
Henrik Sedin 14G 67 A 81 P 82 games
Anze Kopitar 25 G 51 A 76 P 82 games

Top 6 centers

Stephen weiss 20 G 37 A 57 P 80 games
Paul stastny 21G 32 A 53 P 79 games
Mike Fisher 24G 27A 51P 72 games
Mikko Koivu 12 32A 44P 55 games

Players like Bozak, Wellwood just aren't good enough to play the first line. Another thing to take into consideration is Wellwood, Gagner, Nielsen didn't even have close to the amount of talent bozak had on his wings to boost their stats. We desperately need a no.1 center and need to move bozak off the first line any way possible. Whether he's traded, or demoted.

His inability to score is holding our offense back. He played alongside 2 of the league's top scorers and produced terribly. He did have a decent F/O percent (52.7%) but as a no.1 his offensive production is non existent.

I'm not asking for a high scoring center (although i'd love it) but Bozak needs to be replaced. It's obvious his numbers would be absolutely dreadful if he didn't have the support he did with Lupul/Kessel. He's a third line center at best and other players need to be given a fair chance to play on the first line. At this point players such as connolly/steckel should be given an opportunity to play the first line.

I suggest giving players like Nazem Kadri/Joe Colborne a chance this upcoming season, if we cant find a no.1 center via trade this off season.

Nazem Kadri 18 G 22 A 40 points, 48 games played (AHL 2011-2012)

Nazem Kadri 17G 24 A 41 points, 44 games played( AHL 2010-2011)

Joe Colborne, 16G 23A 39 points, 65 games played (AHL, 2011-2012)

He's not a first line forward. Must be useless.

We should keep him until we find a legitimate replacement. He has chemistry with Kessel even if he doesn't put up 60+ points.

Also, it'd be stupid to throw Kadri/Colborne on to the 1st line without a backup plan. What if they don't perform as well as everyone would hope? Now, their confidence is shot and we have no one else to put on the first line.

AHL is not the same as NHL, and Kadri plays too much on the perimeter to really center the first line.

Would love to see him prove me wrong.

Or we can just keep him as our 3rd line C as he was one of our better forwards last year in all situations.

Just curious, do you watch Leaf games, or do you just look up stats and read the Toronto Sun for information?

Rofl... you think the solution to improving offense on the first line is to put a rookie in there?

Bad thread.

Hopefully Burke sees this then he will finally realize that the team needs an upgrade at the centreman position. You have done all of us a great service, sir.

We've developed him for a few years and I wouldn't be surprised if he had a career year, but at the same time I wouldn't mind moving him out for a Sam Gagner. Similar player but Gagner is younger and might have more upside.

Is there anybody who actually thinks he is a legit first liner?

Bozak works on the top-line in a half-assed sort of way by being strong in his own zone and helping move the puck out to Lupul and Kessel who score most of their goals off the rush. It's not an ideal setup for your first line and everyone knows we need someone better in there, who can push Bozak down into the three hole where he can play his role of being a good faceoff guy who can play in his own end and chip in a few here and there.

It almost seems silly for this thread to exist, because at this point, the situation has been pretty clear for a couple years now. We need a #1 center. Duh.

Have a nap, bro.

You need it.

The kid is a great skater, solid playmaker, good PK'er, solid on faceoffs, and his contributions to the community are stellar. He's an exemplary member of the organization.

We need to start shipping out fairweather fans. That's what we need to do.

I vote for offensive dynamo David Steckel to be the 1st line center.

He's the only center that works well with Kessel.
He's a perfect third line center with the edge he plays.

Improving on Bozak would accomplish a lot. No slight on Bozak.

Throwing away Bozak would accomplish absolutely nothing.

Exactly. I think almost everyone would agree with that. I think Bozak could have a future here in a reduced role (third line).

I have have nothing but good things to say about this kid, he is not a 1st line center But he keeps outplaying everyone we try to replace him with.

He is an all around good player just lacks a little finish to his game. He is perfect for a third line role as he can step it up and play on the first line if someone gets hurt.

You cant blame the kid because we don't have a better man for the top line.

This is going no where. I am going to close this.

Also Bozak might not be a great first line option and realistically would be on the third line if we had depth in the center area but we aren't at that spot yet.
