Chris Kelly And Gregory Campbell Close On Multi-Year Extensions With Boston

Bob McKenzie‏@TSNBobMcKenzie

They are not done yet, but Chris Kelly and Gregory Campbell are closing in on new multi-year deals with BOS. Both are UFA on July 1.

Bob McKenzie‏@TSNBobMcKenzie

Point is, unless there is some unexpected last-minute hitch in final stages of negotiations, both will be back in BOS next season.

Summer will be quiet. Kelly was a quality UFA at this point.

Damn it. Was really hoping one or both would make it to free agency. Wanted them for Buffalo. Good for the Bruins if they manage to re-sign these guys. They're huge parts of that team.

The market keeps dwindling. This should be one of the lesser classes we've had in years.

Agreed on the weak summer part, very curious on what team will give a massive contract to Semin (Most likely Islanders)

Knowing Chiarelli, it's likely for the right price.

Absolutely ****ing stoked for these guys to be returning. Perfect 4th line center and a terrific two way 3rd line veteran center who has shown he's perfectly capable of putting up goals. I was so worried Kelly would walk.

I guess Kelly is going to get the 3-4 million he thought he deserved and was asking for. Interesting...

yea Kelly was a solid option. Well Boston is looking good again. If they can only get rid of that 5 million cap hit on Thomas I still say he's an idiot and will just retire next yr. he's taking the money.

So Bruins already tight on the cap likely wont do much more. They have 13 F below in no particular position / order

Krejci, Bergeron, Lucic
Horton, Seguin, Peverly
Marchand, Paille, Kelly
Campbell, Thornton, Poulliot
Caron

Looking at:

Lucic-Krejci-Horton
Marchand-Bergeron-Seguin
Peverley-Kelly-Knight/Pouliot
Paille-Campbell-Thornton/Macdermid

next year. If Horton is hurt again, move Seguin up to RW with Krejci, Pevs with Marchand/Bergeron, then roll Pouliot-Kelly-Knight, or add Spooner if Pouliot isn't re-signed.

Peter Chiarelli is a boss!!!!! just inked Laich's papers as well.

A healthy Horton would of had a seven game series, five overtimes with the LA Kings.

Rather disappointed to be honest, as I was hoping Kelly would make it to free agency so the Blues could potentially pick him up. Would be the ideal third line center for our club.

I think Kelly was a primary target of Columbus to fill that 3rd line center spot.

I really would expect him to re-sign though considering how promising Boston is and how they should be able to fit him in.

With the impending lockout, this offseason and free agents is going to be brutal.

The Bruins have a top nine wing open now with Puliot a Rfa Rolston a Ufa (our third line wings this year)

Most likely a slow summer for them, but with all the more important Ufa's locked up, if they can unload Thomas they can spend all there time going after Parise.

I bet they look to Sobotka to fill that role now.
