Any preference? I've brought it up on the Preds board and I think we're good with Blum+pick/prospect. Certainly would shed some money for you guys.

Well, he shoots really hard... Doesn't skate exceptionally well, has reasonably good positioning. Plays okay with sheltered minutes. Is expendable now that we have signed both Wideman & Sarich.

While shedding money may not be our primary concern, I would prefer Blum.

Add a 2nd round pick and it would seal the deal.

So Blum+Pick for JBo? I think that's fair both ways.

A bit OT but what was up with Blum last season? I had him on my fantasy and he registered a decent amount of blocks but was sent down?

In the 2010-2011 season, Blum was easily our third best defenseman (which is nothing to be ashamed of when your top two are Suter and Weber). Hell, he outplayed Suter on some nights. Coming into camp, everyone predicted Blum to be a lock for our second pairing, including Blum himself appearently. He came in cocky and unprepared, quickly lost his roster spot, and actually ended up on our AHL affiliate's bottom pairing at one point, though he was a very good player for them by the end of the year.

Blum has all the skill to be a solid #3 D with the potential to be a #2, but he is going to have to rediscover his work ethic and find the balance between confidence and cockiness.

Id take Blum + 2nd for Bouw, I think that is a pretty good deal for the Flames. Here is the issue though,

The Flames are trying to remain competitive so we need a D-man that can play 2nd pairing to fill in for some of J-Bouw's minutes. Can Blum do that as this stage?

I'd be happy with either Blum or Ellis, I'd probably make that deal to.

Anyone want a Bouwmeester jersey?

It's impossible to tell at this point. It all depends on how he progresses this off-season. I personally believe there is a 90% chance he is ready for 3rd pairing duty and a 60% chance he is ready for 2nd pairing, but that's just me. We all thought he would be our #3 last year, so we're confused

I like Blum alot, he's a very good overall dman. Its not uncommon for a guy his age to regress slightly early in his career. The same thing happened with Gio IIRC. Long term, Blum looks like a very promising player and I would be more inclined to go with him over Ellis especially considering we just got Wideman.

I would hate to lose Blum, but we need someone to play with Weber, so I'd be willing to do it for JBo. It's not like Blum is being kicked to the curb here, we just have Josi, Ellis, and Ekholm as three other young Dmen with top 4 (at least) upside, so Blum is expendable. You would get an awesome player.

I think this would be a good deal for both teams and there is a VERY realistic chance that this could happen. I actually really like Bouwmeester to, but the Flames need to continue to rebuild and get younger. Blum is a young dman that can play now, Feaster would make this deal IMO.

Sabres fan here, just curious, what would you guys give us for ville leino? alot of people on our board have no clue where he slots into our lineup...is he a scoring winger, shutdown winger, good 3rd line center? we can't really decide. He could most likely provide scoring punch in the top 6, as he is decent at finishing broken plays/finding open ice for himself and others, and has a surprisingly good shot. so calgary just popped into my head as a trade destination since we've done some deals with you this past year. hope you guys land whoever you want once free agency starts

Personally I see Leino as having almost 0 value would do Stajan + Babchuck for Lenio + 1st but I doubt that is what you are looking for.

Can he win a faceoff? If so, there might be a tiny bit of interest.

There should be zero interest in Leino. Don't be fooled.

Exactly. Too many areas to be risking for him. Or rather, I see him having a greater chance of failure.

If Feaster fails to sign someone like Jagr or Semin, I could see this. Although, Stajan is all I would offer for Leino. His contract is terrible but he would add some skill to our top 6.

I would not even consider trading Stajan straight across for Leino.

5 more years @ 4.5 per season for Leino..
2* more years @ 3.5 per season for Stajan..

I also don't see where Leino would fit in the top six. He obviously can't play center all that well, and would not play ahead of Tanguay and Glencross on the left side (or Baertschi for that matter).

No.No.No!
