The Flyers reportedly refused to deal Couturier (or Schenn) for Nash when Howson asked. Fat chance they deal either one of them for Bouwmeester.

We will give them Stajan

Yes, that is a good group of depth dman with Timmo being the only legitimate top pairing dman. The rest of those are very serviceable, but are lacking what Holmgren would classify as a top pairing dman.

My argument would be that "if" they are desperate enough to get a dman, maybe they make a trade based on a position of strength? Having Giroux, Schenn and Reinhart as your top 3 centres for years to come and adding Bouwmeester to your top pairing is a favorable position IMO.

Obviously Couturier is a top young talent, but if there is any chance Feaster could pry him out of Philly, I would hope he pulls the trigger on it.

I would rather target Colin Wilson.
1. Realistically he would be cheaper to acquire
2. He plays a very similar brand of hockey to Couturier
3. Nashville is in a situation in which they can, and must take on cap space.

I think they would have an interest in Matt Stajan and Jay Bouwmeester, but I could be way offbase.

Agreed on all points 100%. My only reason for preferring Couturier over Wilson is I think he has a higher ceiling. But the Nashville deal is very realistic I believe. If we could get Blum and Wilson for Jbo and Stajan, show me where to sign.

Forwards:

Centers:

Lost: Jokinen, Moss, Morrison

Gained: Cervenka, Jones, (Sort of Cammalleri)

Overall: I would say we are worse at center for sure. Without Olli we lack a true top 6 center. We need Cervenka to be really good for us this year.

Wingers:

Lost: Bourque, Hagman, Kostopoulos

Gained: Cammalleri, Hudler, Baertschi, Comeau

Overall: Way better on the wings. Cammy + Hudler >> Bourque + Hagman. We then replace Kosto with Comeau and add Bartschi to our top 9. Big improvement.

Defence:

Lost: Hannan

Gained: Wideman, Brodie

Overall: We have lost some grit for sure but gained a lot of skill with Wideman. Brodie also has top 4 potential so another improvement there.

Goaltending:

Gained: Irving

Overall: Irving provides the possibility for a starter in the future and is an upgrade as a backup over Karlsson.

Overall I think this team will work nicely with Hartley's style if he really does stick to his guns. It's really worrisome how questionable we are down the middle...

This is all assuming that there will be no changes to our roster from now to the start of the season. Nevertheless, still some significant adjustments.

Expecting a body to be moved out on D, but not much else for this team to add.

Considering there is some pretty top tier talent still available via fa... I'm not sute we will are too much moving about quite yet.

Also big dominoes have to fall in Roberto and Nash.

Given that several teams are still looking for a top 4 defenseman I think we could be shopping Jbo. I also think we will try to dump Babchuck.

I can't see us moving Bouwmeester at this point. He's our best defensemen. I can see a Babs dump, but that's it.

I don't want to move Jbo but I have a feeling that he could be available for the right price.

If we move Bouwmeester, we need another top 4 guy come in at some point. Defensively oriented and either mobile or tough as nails.

I don't know...if somehow we could have picked up Grossman in some alternate universe, moving Bouwmeester would be a great idea but right now it seems counter productive unless we're going to move Iginla and Kipper first.

Maybe Bouwmeester would be moved at the deadline, depending if some of our players increase in trade value, such as Stajan, Backlund, Cervenka, etc. If Stajan can utilize his better wingers and return to a pace of 40-50pts, then him and Bouwmeester could be packaged together.

Maybe at the deadline we would see Bouwmeester + forward peices for Seidenberg + Krejci. Bouwmeester and Chara would be a scary top pairing, and Krejci is more expendable with Bergeron, Seguin and Peverly able to play top 9 centre.

Otherwise we could look to the Avs at the deadline. Statsny + Hedja for Bouwmeester and forward pieces.

I would love to see Stajan given a chance but I just don't see it as Feaster expects Cammy to be a #1 center and he thinks Cervenka is a top 2 centerman and Backlund is a much younger player that needs playing time so I think he either gets the 4th line or is off the team.

Rumour from hockeybuzz (so take it with less than a grain of salt), nyi are in on the bouwmeester sweepstakes.

What would be a fair deal for both team?

Something around Hamonic, but realistically nothing makes sense we would need centerman (Nelsen isn't the answer) we would also need a top 4 defenseman coming back they don't have alot. They also don't like adding players that make more than JT.

I'd like:

To
Jay Bouwmeester
Matt Stajan

To
Josh Bailey
Travis Hamonic
NYI 2nd Round Pick 2013

I doubt the Islanders would be willing to do that.

That would be highway robbery for the Flames.
