I would take on Gomez' or Kaberle's contract for jbo if a first and one of their high end prospects were on the way back.

May as well get another first in a draft that is going to be nice and deep. Hell we make that trade we might be picking two in the top ten. Yum.

I should of been more clear, I wasn't meaning from a cap standpoint. But it makes absolutely no sense to add a centre like Gomez on our roster when we already have Stajan. We could potentially end up having both those guys on the Heat and there is no way the owners would agree to that.

While its logistically doable, it is a horrible idea to have both those guys on our roster at the same time. And I fully acknowledge that you are not endorsing that we do that either!

During his best years it was Hamrlik, he was great at feeding him one timers. But if your suggesting trying to add Hamrlik, it may not work out. We tried reuniting Regehr and Leopold several years later and well, 2nd time is not always a charm.

With Nashville possibly not matching Weber's offer sheet they need a top line defenseman and we need young players how do you feel about Jbo + Nemisz + 2013 1st for Wilson + Blum.

No touching our firsts this upcoming draft. Just no.

Jbo + Nemisz for Wilson and Blum with minor adds on Calgary's side, I'm okay with. Preds will end up having more than enough firsts with Shea gone... Also their own will be in prime position.

I think we need our first more than Nashville does, they will have two in that draft already.

Blum is worth a first imo and Wilson could be that centerman we need moving forward. Maybe they add a pick?

Honestly, if we are doing that deal just send them Backlund, Byron and Bouwmeester for Blum and Wilson.

Done and done. I doubt Byron will ever be a regular on our roster. And with acquiring Wilson and having Reinhart and Horak, we do not need Backlund either.

They might require another dman in the deal. They might lose two of the top 15 dmen in the league.

For free? Might not be a bad guy to pick up for them, no one with a big shot anymore if Shea leaves with Suter.

Idk, they might do it? If they lose Weber, they will have to make some type of deal like this to show their fan base they are still committing to winning.

And I've said this before, I really think Horak may end up being better than Backlund. So we shed cap, gain a top 4 dman and add a young top 6 centre with top line potential.

The Jbo rumors may of cooled so much because everyone is waiting to see what happens with Weber. Apparently several teams were trying to trade for him, so maybe Feaster was just letting certain chips fall first.

So we give up:

Bouwmeester
Backlund
Byron
Babchuk

(The great purge of the B's I C.)

for

Blum
Wilson

I think that is a pretty good offer.. Nashville would really have to consider that I think.

New topic:
Evander Kane

About to take a deal in Winnipeg on about a 5 mil avg over 6 seasons. This kid is a Jarome jr, all kind of power and ability.

What does everyone think of the use of an offer sheet? Bump the salary up and terms longer, how many firsts is this stud worth?

I would love to have Kane but realistically you'd be into 4 1st round pics to have a chance at them not matching any offer.

I'd say that's a decent deal. Especially if they don't match webers offer. This way they keep the first four round picks they are getting and get a good defenceman to help offset the loss of weber. They also 2 bottom 9 players with promise and a decent 5/6 defenceman who could help on the power play.
Nashville would have to at least consider although I think they could fetch a better deal with those players + on of those first round picks. And they may not even want to trade Wilson or Blum, as they are promising pieces to the organization that is slowly losing it's best peices

My concern is they are getting an amazing player for a great deal... Soon enough they'll be in out conference at least. May as well make them pay now.

Crazy, I thought they would never match with the threat of a lockout looming. Good for them though!
