Why would he leave Winnipeg when he's their starter ? And when St.Petersburg is pretty cold in the winter...

I highly doubt he goes.. Hes on top of Winnipegs to do list. They better lock him long term..

As far as cold is concerned, St. Petersburg and Winnipeg aren't much different between each other. But who is better, Stepanek or Pavelec?

Winnepeg is a lot colder then St.Petersburg.
Average low in Jan in Winnepeg is -23C or -9F
Average low in Jan in St.Petersburg is -8C or 18F


And not to offend our Canadian friends but I would say the quality of life in St.Petersburg is notably higher.

The quality of life is fantastic in manitoba! Regardless of the cold


And as for who's better? Really stepanek is haivng a hard time holding his starters job to ejov and lost it at the worlds, pavelec is an nhl starter and would have been handed the starting job for the czechs hands down

Stepanek is ok at best, pavelec is awesome

SKA may very well get Pavelec but it is going to cost quite a bit of money to get Pavelec signed...

But is one of Stepanek or Ezhov a pending free agent?

Family reasons ? I know he almost went KHL before.. But that's cause he wanted a starters job.. Which he now has...

@VladNYC... Way to state the obvious... Winterpeg definitely does not compare to St.Petersburg...

Is SKA owned by the same people as Zenit in football?

If they are I wonder why they haven't signed more NHLers.

Does anyone know if SKA is still playing in the same arena near Zenits ground or that lovely (relatively)new 17000 seat arena in a different part of Petersburg that looks like an NHL building?


I'd live in Petersburg over Winnipeg every day of the week and I have forgotten most of the Russian I knew, people saying the quality of life in the Peg is better to a millionaire who speaks Russian are absolute ****ing morons.

Their budget was almost 100 000 000$ last season... They have signed these NHL guys in last few years: Afinogenov, Grebeshkov, Kalinin, Artyukhin, Prucha, Nabokov..
