Chris Kelly (4/12m) and Gregory Campbell (3/4.8m) Re-Sign with Bruins

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
They are not done yet, but Chris Kelly and Gregory Campbell are closing in on new multi-year deals with BOS. Both are UFA on July 1.

Great news about Kelly. Happy to have Campbell back too but hopefully at the right price. Love having both of them though.

Not going to get too excited until I hear the numbers. Hopefully it's <$5M combined cap hits.

That would leave about 2 open forward spots for potential UFA signings. We need to add at least 1 scoring winger this offseason.

Zero chance they resign Nathan Horton after this season.

You can't keep everybody, and wing is the only depth they have coming up.

This needs to be less than five million combined or Boston is in a tough spot.

I think I'll put my trust in Chiarelli when it comes to the Bruins' plans.

And don't mean to be a grammar Nazi, but re-sign and resign mean very different things.

Why?

We would be lucky if any of those prospects can put up the numbers Horton does, he was on pace for over thirty again before he got hurt, not to mention how clutch he was in our cup run.

5 would be a very good price. Have a feeling it will be more.

Woo. Hoo. With the TT bit, I was concerned matters might continue to unravel a bit.

This is why I love Bob McKenzie.

It all depends on what we can do under the cap. Which all depends on the new CBA. It's too soon to say that we will or won't be able to afford certain things.

Very suprising but good news especially if we can keep Kelly in the fold. Considering what other prospective UFA's are getting, Kelly won't come cheap.

Key word there is "was"...he was on pace and was clutch...I don't want them to pay for what he has done though....who knows how effective he will be coming back from a concussion. You should never pay a guy primarily based on what he has done but what he projects to do.

This is very true. If Horton has another bad injury, I woudln't be paying another player 4m+ for the past. We don't need another Savard situation. This season is very important for Horton.

I'm sure it's for the right price if Chiarelli is close. Very pleased with this.

well, since he has a year to go on his contract, the Bruins will have time to see how he progresses.
