At least he's in his last year, right? I like the guy, but I think his on-ice usefulness is all but at an end, especially with the kind of game he plays. I'm hoping he surprises me, but I just don't see him doing much. Unfortunately.

If I'm Chia, I attempt to move Horton as well. He's a warrior, but damaged. If he can get a top-line talent, I don't see where Horton fits at this stage.
If the other 29 GM's think like Horton fans we might get 2 1st... in reality Chia will be lucky if he can get 2 aspirins for him.

For the record, the NTC is a carryover from Horton's Florida contract. He waived it to come to Boston.

As noted previously, concussions are not a one-size-fits-all circumstance. Marc Savard did not recover; Patrice Bergeron did. I'll wait and see on Horton.

Any word on pouliot.

I have to think Horton is on his way out. I would not feel comfortable commuting even his current salary for x years. He is major injury concern.

Pouliot is junk. I hope they don't qualify him. He brings nothing to this team and is not needed.

Blind faith and stubborn devotion are what lead this team to where it was before Chiarelli came on board. You can certainly believe he's doing a good job, but you have to at least question some of the moves instead of accepting them with blanket affirmations like you do much of the time. It's okay to question a move he makes. If PC overpays for Campbell and Kelly, it will be a bad thing. I like both guys, but if Kelly pulls in anything close to Jones, I'm going to want to punch him in the throat.

His way out where? He's signed for this year, and he has a NTC. The coming season doesn't start for months. Why not wait and see what's happening before sending him to the glue factory?

I would not re-sign Horton based on his concussion history.
Bergy, Krecji, and Horton all are one hit from joining Savard.

I'd rather not have that many players in that situation.

I have to think that Chiarelli is learning from past mistakes. I can't see him giving Kelly 4M or Campbell 2M, he got Paille at a very reasonable number and I am thinking that Kelly and Campbell will be reasonable as well. My guess is 2.8-3.3 for Kelly and 1.2-1.8 for Campbell.

I certainly hope so. If I had to do it, I'd give Kelly $2.75 (not a shade more), and Campbell $1.25, anything more would constitute an overpayment, IMO.

Punch him in the throat.

How have the Bruins done in the years since Chiarelli has taken over? I suppose I'm the only person who "believes he's doing a good job"?

I don't care about contract minutiae. Whether the fourth line signs for $4 million or $3.72 million or 50 cents, whether Andrew Ference is "overpaid" by $200,000.16, what matters is getting the key players on this team signed and under the cap. Period. I don't care how he does it, and you know, I don't think I know more than he does.

I agree with Campbel, Kelly is worth 3m though

How long before we get the details is there a usual time table with Mckenzie?

I would hold off the water works for a bit yet. There is lots of summer to go and if Horton is good to go I like the Bruins' chances.

I don't think anyone has said that he hasn't done a good job. But you'd be hard pressed to call every one of his moves good, just like every other person out there, he makes mistakes.

Neither do I, but we don't have much of a choice.

I would say that there is a good chance that Horton will return next year, by all accounts he was close this year, but the Burins didn't want to risk it so they shut him down. If the cap goes up to 70M and they figure out something to do with Thomas, there will be lots of room for Iginla.

He's coming off a career year in both goals and points. I don't see him replicating it, so I wouldn't pay him over what I said. Just don't see a guy who puts up 13-15 goals a year suddenly a consistent 20 goal scorer 8 years into his career. He is what he is. A good depth player, but not a guy who should be getting $3Mill or above.
