I thought the guy was supposed to be knocked out? At least, that was the story everyone was telling.

I don't condone this at all, it was vicious, but the guy was never knocked out it seems to me.

I wouldn't say I condone it, but it really didn't appear that bad. The guy was obviously a very willing participant and earned himself a world-class beatdown. At one point it appeared Brashear was ready to skate away but something happened (the guy kicked at him is what's being said?) that resulted in a few more blows.
Oh well, when you challenge a heavyweight, best be prepared to defend yourself.

It appears the guy tried a vicious headbutt, which really set off Brashear. It looked like a normal fight until that moment.

I think you're right, right before he gets dropped for the second time you see his head go forward
then after Brash beat him on the ice, and gave him the parting shot to the back of the head, it looks like he tried to skate away, then the guy grabbed onto his leg, then his jersey, pulling Brash onto him where he got slapped around again

Not cool. However, Brashear was squaring off with one guy, and another guy tried to fight him. Not cool. Then after Brashear fights that guy, another guy tries to fight him, or the second guy faught him first, doesn't matter--not cool. What Brashear did was unacceptable. However I think it is fair to say that if 3 different guys didn't try to fight him, he might not have done that. Can't say for sure of course, but when you're trying to fight Bob and Bill goes after you, and then you do fight Bob and Chuck then wants a piece of you, you're probably going to do something stupid too. Doesn't condone it, but I think that you can't be fair unless you consider that. And maybe that guy did try a headbutt, I can't really tell from that video. His head does go forward than backwards really quickly though, and that's yet another thing to consider.

11 or 12 seconds into the 2nd video it looks like a clear attempt at a headbutt. If somebody is crazy enough to risk giving themself whiplash in order to headbutt me I'd def make sure they didn't get up too.

lol

I agree if I was Brash and fighting someone and they tried something cheap like that i'd definitely get a few extra punches.

Now if it is true the guy attempted to headbutt him Brash was no more in the wrong then when Chris Neil savagely beat Radovan Somik while he was on the ice during the Ottawa-Philly brawl. Actually just the fact he fought Somik he should of been suspended from the NHL...

I just watched the OTT-PHI brawl again and Poor Somik, he looks like a fish out of water. He's just flopping around out there, you don't fight that. "Neil pounds Somik into the ice....oh that's nasty."

Chris Neil is a punk. There's nothing "tough" about his game and he's one of those "tough" guys who's reputation has been built by bullying other people. When one of the most respected men in hockey, Brian Kilrea, even calls you a punk, you know that you can't be thought that highly of.
