On topic. NO!

If he's really up for it, give him a PTO, if he makes it out of camp, great, if not, nothing lost.

I could live with a training camp invite as a courtesy, but I really don't think there's a place for him on this team. There wasn't however long ago - there definitely isn't now.

The game has changed and passed players like Laraque by. There's just no need anymore for the super heavyweight breed; how many teams had one in their employ last season? Besides which, as many have pointed out he was a great fighter, and a poor enforcer.

I'd have Hordichuk any day over Laraque. Forget it.

Jeez, Laraque is such a good guy, I'd have a hard time turning him down for a PTO. If he has no delusions about his role, he might be worth signing just to show to the young guys about dedication off the ice.

What?!? Like a "Don't do what Donny Don't does?" sort of thing? Seems like a waste of time!

Big Georges is broke and a friend of Katz's. We'll see him in training camp, against every shred of rational thought.

Come on, fans! You think you matter? Katz has a toy to play with here!

Looks like Hordichuk is also pleading his case:

"I love this city and love playing for the organization. With these young kids and the future this team has, you can't help but want to be a part of it."

Like Laraque but we need a physical presence that isn't restricted to damaging the other teams worst player on the ice. He's to heavy to hit anyone the spot could be better used on a Latendresse type player.

I'd rather have Ben Eager on his game than Laraque or Hordichuck. Both are a waste of roster spot if Eager can stay consistent.

If I had to choose between GL and DH, it's hordi any day. Laraque is an old man.

He only wants to be here because no other team in the world let alone NHL will sign him not really flattering.

Glad you are not the GM. I bet there are other over the hill retired players that would want to come to Edmonton for one more pay day and spin around the league. Have Moreau or Pisani retired yet, might as well bring them back too.

GL can talk all he want as far as I can see. He can say he wants to come to Edmonton. Do the Oilers actually want him. Why doesn't anyone talk about the Oilers side if they actually want him.

That can happen with any given player. Its a rough sport. Look what happened to Fedun for example.

Georges Laraque is a horrible hockey player.

He'd fit right in with the rest of Steve Tambellini's free agent signings.

Big Georges thinks that he's a goal scorer. He has plenty of delusions about his role on an NHL hockey club.

cough "Tulupov" cough

I think we should give Laraque a PTO and go from there. A nice gesture. It doesn't mean we would sign him.

How about the new coach just uses Hordichuk properly, unlike Renney.

No contact, no PTO, nothing.

He's done. Offer him a role in the organization if he's running outta money, but no way should he be in training camp.
