I'm guessing you aren't embarassed at all when your bunch of wimps gets beaten up night in night out. Do you even know what 'pride' is? I don't think so.

Dude I think you need to let the fighting go, it's useless in hockey

Follow MMA or Boxing if you want to see fighting

It's over in Montreal because there are way too many fans like you and not enough like Don Cherry.

You look happy with this puss league eh? I don't give a flying crap about the MMA.
Whre are the goons in the Playoffs ? In the stands...where they ****ing belong. No. WRONG ! They don't even belong to NHL hockey...

Is pride believing everything Don Cherry says is gospel and making asinine comments about professional hockey players being wimps?

If so I'm glad I don't have any pride.

Dude, enough with the gross exaggerations.

Who's a wimp? Gionta? MaxPac? Cole? DD? Plek? Eller? Moen? White? PK?
Who??

Ya, it's not fun to see Hammer, Spacek and Pyatt get manhandled. But I'm not a little boy that's gonna cry about it either. Would I like to see a big guy lay Lucic out? Sure. But again, I'm not going to cry if it doesn't happen.
What I care about is WINNING the damn game. You know, the objective of every single player, coach, GM, president and owner. Do we have a better chance of winning with Parros and Carkner in the line up as opposed to better hockey players? No we don't.

And we don't get beaten up night after night. Stop making yourself look bad.

We get it, you want enforcers. Good for you. Most would welcome some, just like we welcomed Laraque and Staubitz. But those guys are not regulars. You don't waste a roster spot on them all season long, let alone two of them.

Wish the guy good luck, but I just don't see it happening. I suppose he might get a tryout somewhere though.

Allen will not win all his fights but he can and will take on heavyweight. He's also a way better player than Carkner.

Barret Jackmen will not fight a lot but he doesn't back down from anybody, plays a hard game and can take a lot of minutes. He foughts the toughest of the league including Lucic and Parros and he gave them a good fight, so yes Jackmen is a fighter and good one; i am surprised that as the fighter specialist you didn't know about that.

Matt was good when he first came with the Sens, he's washed up already, he had 2-3 seasons as a 6th/7th defencemen to give and now he's done. Sign him if you consider him as the 7th fill in for an injury, but he's not gonna be a regular.

They're, literraly, a bunch of wimps. They're easy to beat up after the whisle. They're the first ones on their knees. Subban makes it in his pants and runs to the bench not to get into an argument with some McQuaids/Hortons. Is this pride? No.

Oh, and yeah, because the goal is winning the hockey game, well it's funny, because I'd rather play on Bruins/Rangers/Penguins/Flyers/Devils enforcing models than the no-enforcing Canes/Bolts/Sabres/Islanders model.

It's funny eh?

And, oh, guys, Don Cherry is outstanding when talking about hockey.

Because they break your heart, with such pure ruthless violence? How sad.

Goons don't exist, enforcers do though. Goons are all in the minors. You'll be surprised to learn that Shawn Thornton, Matt Carkner and Mike Rupp aren't goons, they're just enforcers. They play hockey. Even in the playoffs.

God forbid we adjust our line-up like the other 29 teams in the league, right? Look at the remaining 2 teams as obvious proof..

And for the voluntarily blind people who say that the enforcer era is over, look at all the line-ups 1 by 1 while I shake my head at you guys.

Everytime I think of Laraque, this comes into mind...

http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh...d.php?t=775693

I think he's a great person and I respect his opinion on alot of things, but his career is finished IMO plus he's been inactive for quite some time...too much ice rust for this guy

Nope. I will watch hockey because it includes, from time to time, a good, old-fashionned, toe-to-toe fight. You watch soccer if you don't want to get your heart broken with such ruthless violence. They don't allow fighting in soccer, they do allow diving and all that crap you must like to see when Subban does it.

I wouldn't use Carkner as a regular, neither Parros/Hordichuk/Kassian on the 4th line. Play Carkner 50 games a year, like we would have played Alex Picard a couple of years ago. Play the 4th line enforcer like we played Staubitz this season.

Against the Bruins, Leafs, Flyers, Rangers, Penguins and other tough and enforcing teams.

Talking only about hockey skills, Matt Carkner is about as good as Alex Picard.

Yeah because we'll play Zach Parise on the 4th line instead of George Parros.

You never waste a roster spot on the 4th line. It's filled with role players. One guy brings energy, the other guy brings enforcing, the other one kills penalties.

But I,m guessing you would rather have Aaron Palushaj and Mike Blunden instead, since they are wimps.

Which opinion?

The one where he says he is a fighter. Or the one where he says it is wrong to be a fighter?

He no longer can play at the speed he would need to be a grinder. He does not want to be an every game fighter. So...

I'm guessing he was talking about what Laraque did with the Green Party of Canada, helped Hati, etc.

You're still claiming to be a Habs fan right?

Ok, so you think Subban is a wimp, specifically, that's one you've named.

Who else are you calling wimps?

Hell I'd like to even see you call Desharnais a wimp to his face.

This is too funny, easily my favourite part about HFboards these days.

You rock my world.
You are correct. Desharnais, Eller, Plekanec, Diaz and Weber are men and probably would take offense at being called a wimp to their face by a hockey "fan".

However.........hockey fans dont play the game. The sad reality is that anyone and everyone on the Bruins/Rangers/Kings/ etc could and do get in the Habs faces and all our players do is turn and skate away.

Pride is an important factor in creating a confident team.

But again, you are half correct in your assessment.

And for the record, Montreal does not need a goon. The Habs do need a couple more players in the mold of Staubitz, especially on defense. A player who can play the game and stick up for his teammates with his fists.

Why would the Habs keep Staubitz, when they could get Matt Kassian, who is an upgrade in the fighting department without being a downgrade in the hockey department?

The Minny Wild waived Staubitz so they could play Kassian.

Nobody's arguing about having talented guys that can fight on the roster. I mean, I'm not a proponent of fighting, far from it. But hey, if that's what it takes to win. What most are saying is, the idea that we NEED an enforcer is ridiculous. They're a dying breed. And the NHL is taking a different route regarding rules and enforcing them. So the need for an enforcer will most likely diminish as the years go by.

And once again, by definition, an enforcer is a guy who's sole "hockey skill"--or at the very least, his best skill by far--is fighting and intimidating other players. So naming Evander Kane as an example of an enforcer is beyond ridiculous.
What a bad argument. So for you, Tie Domi is not an enforcer ? What about Michael Haley ? Jon Mirasty ?

You keep naming the same three ****ing guys over and over... There is 30 teams in the NHL. Where are the others valuable "enforcers" ?

I love tough tight checking, hard-hitting hockey. I hate goons with the staged fights who are playing 3-6 minutes a game.

Because if you take a headshot at my star player and I jump over the boards to come smash your face in, I get 10 games at least and no one was hurt, mean while you'd get probably 4 at most.

Instigator protects too many chicken **** ********.
