What CURRENT (non UFA) Sabre will not be on the team in October?

Not necessarily who you wish, but your best prediction as to what CURRENT (non UFA) Sabre (not Amerk) player will NOT be a Buffalo Sabre on the opening night of the regular season. I may repost the predictions in October to see who is the most psychic

Please don't go nuts with more than 2, or it won't count. Get your predictions in before July 1st.

My Prediction ... Roy and/or Hecht

Not counting the obvious UFA's like Hecht and Boyes, I think the most likely candidate is Mike Weber. He'll be the odd man out when McNabb earns a spot in camp.

Not resigning Hecht isn't so obvious. There is a chance, yes a slight chance, they throw him a one year deal

That's why i picked him.

But Boyes, yea he's as good as gone.

Forgetting about the obvious ones...Hecht, Boyes...

and Roy.....too many rumours of he's on the block, or has been on the block...

My gut is telling me Vanek will be moved. Big name, produces, rest of contract ok, good age, consistant and there are rumours of issues between him and Ruff. I think the team knows it needs a change, and I think Vanek might be the odd guy out.

I'd side with Vanek over Ruff. I'll be pissed if we end up trading Vanek, he should be a lifer. If he is a lifer no doubt he breaks Gilberts goals record.

At this stage of the Sabres, I'd side with Vanek too. For years on this board, I've said that the biggest thing I have against Ruff, is his handeling of Vanek. When you have a stallion, you ride him. You set him up to succeed, you game plan around him, etc., which Ruff does none of.

As for him or Ruff, Pegula and company has already said Ruff isn't going anywhere, so Vanek...

Of players under contract for next season?

Weber
Leopold
Roy
Adam
Enroth

In descending order of likeliness of departure. Roy's only gone if there's another center coming back in that deal or a different deal. They're not going with Ennis-Hodgson and two free agents or Adam/Leino. I could see Enroth being moved, too, in the right deal.

his vale is a lot higher now then it was mid-season, but I think he finally found a home with Ennis and Foligno. Unless it's an overpayment I don't think he gets traded, but you never know.

As for my guess I think Roy gets traded at the draft and Weber gets traded sometime during the summer.

I agree. We still have yet to see Vanek and Pommers also Leino with a #1 center. We've seen Leino with one in Philly. We need a #1 center in the B-lo. Also we need to keep Vanek, and Pommers. Get rid of Roy imo.

That seems likely. Though it'd be a shame if that meant McNabb ended up traveling with the team as the 7th man and only playing games when someone was injured. Kid should be playing -- AHL or NHL -- with regularity if he's gonna continue to develop.

I second this list for players under contract still.

I see why everyone is saying that Roy won't be a Sabres next year, but I honestly think that he will be a sabre until the trade deadline. He's on the last year of his contract and I think that will really hurt his value. Unless DR throws in some serious collateral, i expect he'll be back.

Boyes is gone for sure. Hecht is most likely done, unless management throws him a cheap 1 year contact and he bites (which he'd be smart to...). His concussions have likely derailed his career, which is incredibly sad.

I'm going off-board and I'll say one of Ennis or Hodgson will be needed to close the deal to get their mythic top-line center (be it someone like Staal in trade or to get up to #3 overall and draft Galchenyuk).

Where would Hetch play if he did get a cheap 1 yr. contract?
