I don't think Guida himself thinks he stands a chance against Maynard.

Btw. I'm really, REALLY getting tired of these super crappy FX, Fuel tv cards. 2012 has been an atrocious year for the UFC all because of that Fox deal. There's really not enough talent per card nowadays.

Yup. They need to cut about 50 fighters and either get guys fighting more or have less cards.

It's exhausting to keep up with all these cards but I feel compelled to watch them.

I think as the revenue continues to stream in from the fox deal they should reduce the PPVs to every other month, title fight main events only.

They could at least add fights like wand/franklin & werdum/russow to cards like this.

They are getting watered down but I can't stop tuning in.

While the main event isn't a "squash match", it's a stylistic nightmare for Guida. I know anything can happen but wasting 2 top 10 guys in a fight that will play out the same way 9/10 times seems likena waste. Especially in the deepest division in the sport.

Complaint 2, what in the hell is Hioki doing on an undercard portion o a televised fight? Especially with another FW fight kicking off the broadcast....

^ Is Guida top 10? I thought he was the LW gatekeeper?

I like Stout and Fisher, but do we really need to see this for a 3rd time?

Its not really a waste for the UFC, it makes perfect sense. Maynard needs to win fights to remain somewhat popular, while Guida can lose two in a row and its no big deal. Plus, Guida's future probably lies at 145 anyway.

My picks are the same as Captain Cunney's except I'm taking Keith over Nijem and that's strictly a guess. I'm looking forward to this card as all 4 main card fights interest me and Hioki/Lamas should be good too.

It's not a waste for the UFC, sure, but it's a waste fight for a fans interest, Guida really has no chance. The deepest division in the sport can produce more intriguing matchups than this, IMO.

Guida would bring depth to 145, hopefully after Gray throws him around like a potato sack he makes the drop.

From a fans perspective Guida has nothing to gain. From Guida's perspective he gets to headline an event, which is a big deal for a fighter. He will probably do quite well for sponsors for this fight.

Add to that a 5-round fight against Maynard puts you in a great position to earn FOTN quite easily IMO. More dollars potentially.

And hey, a win (as unlikely as it seems) puts him right back near the top of the division.

I think Maynard wins a 5 round fight that will be FOTN and gain Guida a ton of money and even more fans.

And hey, is this any less intriguing of a fight than Henderson/Guida? You don't want that for 5 rounds?

All very valid points & I'm a huge Guida fanboy so I get the $$ perspective.

I'm looking forward to the fight, I'm just not jacked about the matchup. Mind you it could be influenced knowing that a guy I like is in it up to his long hair.

Hopefully I eat crow. Gray has faded before & Clay could go 10 rounds. 5 rounds certainly closes the gap.

Yeah, I see the actual match-up breaking down similar to you. Guida might not always win these fights against high-end wrestlers but he generally makes them exciting.

Would rather see Story and Hioki's fights on the main card than Pearson and Ebersole's. I'm glad they televise the prelims now.

Yes, he did and I picked him to lose that fight because I had him confused with Dustin Neace who pretty much sucks.

It's comical that this card is the free one for the weekend.

Outside of the 2 big fights in brazil, this one crushes the PPV option.

Sucks that this has to overlap the NHL draft.
