Yeah. But of the eastern bloc you'd consider slovakia more central europe than eastern europe (where the russians and other european former soviets are)...which is why hossa is allowed to be on the team. if he were from, say, ukraine, then forget it.

this post caused me to look at map and then I saw how big kazakhstan is and laughed. Ever since Borat, I always picture Kazakhstan to be a tiny country, but nope.

Karp/Mironov sucked but at Kravchuk/Ulanov were solid in there short times in Chicago

Both should have been kept around longer

And Krivokrasov and Zhamnov (As much as he gets flak because he was guy the Hawks got for JR) were both quality for Hawks

Zhamnov never was blessed with top notch talent outside of Tony Amonte to play with while in Chicago and Krivo played his role with Hawks well

Zhamnov was talented, but replacing the team's heart and soul with a soft Russian playmaker led to a no win situation for him. And he did have some scorers to play with, Daze/Sullivan/Amonte all could put the puck in the net.

Daze never meshed well when playing with Zhamnov and correct me if I am wrong but didn't Sullivan play more with Nylander then Zhamnov?

I could have swore it was usually Zhamnov + Amonte + Spare part

Still point is that he never got to play with same type of talent as in Winnipeg (The Olympic line was amazing) until he went to Philly and was part of the "Blackhawk Down" line with Amonte/JR in playoffs

zhamnov was my favorite player on the hawks when i was a kid. as much as the hawks sucked ass then, it still brings back good memories of guys like amonte/zhamnov/daze(the gentle giant)/sullivan/thibault/housley/calder/etc.

then they finally make the playoffs in 02 and completely suck ass

i was so excited before the playoffs started too

I think to challenge the Hawks' aversion to russians we need to get one again and see how it works. I suggest Malkin (if he works out we can try for Ovechkin at a later date).

That should StanBo's ultimate test - convince Shero that the team would be better off by keeping Staal and getting rid of Malkin (who we would accept as a "salary dump"). We of course could be convinced to give up Kruger (and Saad, for the hometown connection).

-- Crosby --
-- Staal --
-- Kruger --

LETHAL!

I'd take Antropov and Bobrovsky on the Hawks and see what we get out of them

a guy like daniel winnick would be great in our bottom 6. he's tough, and is a great PKer.

i have a feeling we see the return of Adam Burish.

Zhamnov and Amonte were always together. Daze, Nylander and Sullivan played a lot together as a line. The other winger on the 1st line was usually Probert or Krivo, Calder in later years.

I don't see why Burish will come back. We already have a full roster and he does not make us that better.
