I can live with that. One of the best 4th liners in the game and can play up a line if asked. Fights, kills penalties and lives in the greasy areas.

Hate to say this, but this is a good deal for the Bruins.

If you average them together, it seems ok...

wow 3 MORE years of favorably calls from the NHL for only 4.8 million...thats a steal.....

jk aside good deal espically if he had hit the market i could easily see him getting 2.5 out there.

I was just about to merge this with the other thread thinking someone had posted the Kelly signing twice, then saw the $1.6 million tag and thought they'd gotten Kelly for a heckuva deal. Guess I should sticky this, though.

Solid deal for Soup. I would have preferred 2 years but it's ok, PC did good with signing both Kelly and Campbell before July 1st.

Anything under 2.0 million was going to be tough, but Chiarelli continues to impress. Looks like both wanted to stay in Boston for the next number of years.

No way he would have gotten close to 3 on the free market, but 1,6 is about his value I suppose. Solid deal.

I think he could have gotten 2.5 pretty easily.

We just saw David Jones get 4 million, Matt Cullen has a 3.5 cap hit (when the cap was lower)

Never underestimate the stupidity/insanity of a GM on July 1st with a whack of cap space to fill.

I don't know if comparing him to Jones and Cullen is necessarily accurate. I mean, Jones is a top 6 winger who has scored 25+ goals in a season and Cullen (when signed) was supposed to be a good 2nd line center, even though he's been slightly disappointing the last few years. However, I do understand how you are comparing the overpayments. Personally, I don't know if he would have gotten $2.5M but definitely $2M on the open market.

Needless to say, this is a good re-signing for the Bruins. He's worth about that so it's a good deal. One of the better 4th line centers in the League and another center I wanted the Sabres to try for off the market. Options are limiting even more for teams looking for bottom 6 centers now.

Only expected 2 years but I'll take 3. Both my favorites are back so I'm happy

As a Bruins fan I am very happy with the deal, of course assuming there is not some really cumbersome NTC for 3 years.

He might have been able to get a few hundred thousand more on the open market, but this seems like where he should be. I knwo some fans were hoping it would be closer to 1.25, but that seemed unrealistically low.

Nice to see Chia putting the band back together

Glad to have Campbell back. He brings a lot of grit and effort to the Bruins 4th line.

Glad they got Campbell done. They keep their 4th line intact who have some chemistry and are one of the strongest 4th lines in the league and Claude likes to roll 4.
