I rather replace Martin with a good defenseman, because that's something we actually need.

Parise won't help this team. Why you ask? Because this team had the #1 offense last season. His offense won't make a difference here. A competent defenseman will.

we have plenty of competent defensemen. we need a competent defensive system and some clarity so our defenseman know what they are actually doing.

Me neither. Don't watch any Flames games but what I've heard and seen from YT, he is pretty much better than Orpik now by physical meaning. He also had $3.6M cap hit, so he could be second pair guy:

he's been playing 3rd pairing minutes for about 3 seasons now though. Didn't actually look further back than that.

To all those who think we don't need another forward, what's your top 6 look like?

I'm not asking for Parise. Just someone with some size at the very least. Some skill would be nice.

TK and Dupuis are both in it. We need another forward for sure.

Or we could keep Staal and sign Stoll and put them on the same line just to confuse the hell out of Errey and Steigy.
I was thinking that too, but my guess is that new ring of his just upped his price out of their range. Someone will probably throw >$4 million at him

I agree, but people were throwing around the idea of trading Martin for something. Trading a top 4 Dman (if you want to call him that) for offense won't help this team.

After losing to Philly, we had 2 holes. goaltending and defense. Vokoun arguably solves the first problem. New coaching philosophy/strategy can fix the second problem. No need to add more goal high end scoring here, there's plenty of that. Just get a solid winger for Sid, like Sullivan or better, and they'll be set.

No thanks to Radulov. L.o.c.k.e.r.r.o.o.m. C.A.N.C.E.R. Or at least I believe he would be.

But this was a top offense as is. That's where I think people are coming from. It's unnecessary, where as a defenseman is much more pressing.

Top6 needs either a physical sort of plug player to go on Malkin's not-Neal-side, so that Kunitz can be returned to Crosby, or a new real talented guy for Crosby's line, so that Malkin's line can stay the way it was this year. Duper isn't the problem, Duper being Sid's better winger is.

Would rather spend another 2 mil and get Parise than Radulov

I wouldn't feel comfortable having three people on $7m+. Saying that, if it was a choice of Radulov or Parise, I'd go with Parise.

Not if it's a forward... but I could handle spending 7+ on an allstar stud D (Weber?)...

Sarich is a nice number 5 these days but I don't think he can be a 2nd pairing guy on a contender any more.

You don't turn down Zach Parise. That being said, the money that'd be allocated to him could be better spent somewhere else. That last statement is coming from a guy where Zach Parise is in his top 5 favorite players.

Sarich is in the best shape of his life... I don't want to hear anymore neghead downer ****.

Go get 'im, Ray! Will make our D tougher to play against. Move someone else up to take Martin's minutes if you have to (Despres comes to mind).

I'm not getting into our offensive output b/c posters on here tend to just look at stats. We played against a **** goalie and shaky defense but yet CSK was our only reliable line.

I agree we don't need to score than 4 goals/game. But I think surrounding Sid with some combo of size/talent would go a long way in tight checking hockey.

I can guarantee he'll be shutdown for large stretches in a playoff series with Sully and Dupuis flanking him. Posters are delusional if they think that trio can do much against the better defensive squads.

It's more nuanced than the stats we put up against Philly.

By the way there is no way as a fan I want to see Radulov here for the price of anything close to $5M. That is insane. I want to see this guy prove himself to be a team guy for one full season and playoff before Ray pays big money for him. Right now he has liability written all over him. As I said prior, it's hard to believe he has a commitment level necessary for a team like this.

One can hope they're still tight.
