alright you guys have convinced me this is a good idea and they can sell to Schultz he can play with Staal.

Then package DZ for a scoring winger and play Erixon 3rd pair LD

McDonaugh, Girardi
Staal, Schultz
Erixon, vet UFA
Stralman
Sauer , we all hope
McIlrath in CT to start

any news on meetings now?

Getting Schultz would not only be huge for this team going forward but it would open up several different avenues/options with players currently on the roster.

IMHO, it makes MDZ or Erixon easier to part with if the right deal comes along.

Agreed, but people around here seems to think that IF we sign Schultz, MDZ will be traded immediately for Ryan/Nash or any other major deal, which I think won't happen. The Rangers will wait and see how he adapts to NHL hockey and to the team, before they trade anyone. What if he isn't NHL ready?? Then you're down 2 Dmen.

Right, but if by some chance Schultz were to sign here AND make the team out of camp, looking like he belongs...well then a trade deadline deal sending a D for more offense is more plausible.

Yes, what I meant is that, MDZ would not be traded in the offseason, just because we signed Schultz. Unless of course the Rangers acquired/traded for another proven Dman...

It does, but not during the offseason or even this season. He'd have to prove he can play top 4 minutes before we move from him. He's going to have to push guys like DZ and Erixon and take his minutes.

Wonder who the extra teams are?

We've been saying, Toronto, Rangers, Canucks for awhile. Dismissing most other teams.

Probably Detroit and possibly Edmonton. Wouldn't rule out Philly either. Really solid team and they need some help on D.

Toronto, Rangers, Vancouver, Edmonton, most likely Detroit. There's 5 and that's most likely it.

No one really knows.

My best guess is he has a team that he probably always wanted to play for.
Or wants to play with friends.

Torts has a pretty good track record of giving kids top minutes if they earn them. In the meeting all they have to do is point to Kreider, Stepan and McDonagh in the playoffs to show how he can earn top minutes as a kid if he plays hard and limits and learns from mistakes.

Does anyone know if he was tight with Stepan or McD?

Not really, if he's actually ready he could pair up with Staal or Mcd depending on how the pairings end up during camp. Wouldn't be to suprised if Staal's back on the top line with Girardi out of camp, leaving a spot next to McD open if he's truely ready for 20min a night at the NHL level.

Nice of you to raise a "Red flag" about a guy's misspelling of till as tell and then saying "Statue of Liberties" instead of "Statues of Liberty" in a different thread.

Busted in my web of hypocrisy. I don't use the plural form very often.

Especially not when referring to an object of which there is only one, I'm sure.

Well, there's a few of them floating around France...

(I know, we can argue about the semantics behind Statue of Liberty all day)
