Its back up

Quote:
Since we mentioned him above, let's start with Schultz. Neither the Maple Leafs, the Ducks nor his agency (Newport) would discuss it, but heard Anaheim allowed Toronto a window to try and sign him at the draft. (There would have been some draft-pick compensation in return.) He wants to test free-agency -- who can blame him? -- and passed. It is believed he is meeting with his agents today to discuss a shorter list of teams and is to begin discussions with that group Wednesday.

Moronic mistakes?

Burke complained and CBC edited the blog/column. Friedman put that info back into the blog.

What happened with this situation today? Was the list shortened? Is he meeting with teams tomorrow? That was the plan. Formulate the list of teams today and they go to Toronto on Wednesday.

The GMs will be tripping over each other in Toronto Wednesday, promising Schultz and his agents the moon and plenty of ice time in the first free agency war of the summer.

The Senators are in the game, along with apparent front-runners including Detroit Edmonton, Chicago, Toronto, Chicago and the New York Rangers. And no wonder. Its as close to a freebie as there is in the NHL. After three seasons as a standout offensive defenceman at the University of Wisconsin, Schultz, who turns 22 next week, is already a polished prospect. As an incoming rookie, hes a bargain, subject to an entry level contract of $925,000.

If the Oilers see Justin Schultz with owner, Lowe, Tambellini, coach, Hall, Eberle RNH and he decides to play in Vancouver or New York, fine

I love the comment to Jones. The owner of team-Katz. His kids will offer Schultz legos if he signs.

Terry Jones is Sather's buddy from the Oilers days.

I don't see the Senators "in the game" but who knows. I honestly think Canucks, Rangers or Wings.

If he comes to a decision before July 1st, can they announce it before he officially signs?

I imagine the team that signs him would send a pick back to Anaheim as a "trade and sign" kind of thing.

No they won't. Anaheim no longer holds his rights. He's a UFA, which is why he can talk to other teams. He just can't officially sign until July 1st when free agency starts.

Is there an official article that stated he only is considering Canadian teams? Or is it speculation?

I don't think he's going to sign here, but Mac spews quite a lot of BS when he's trying to increase hits and ratings for TSN, a network constantly "pandering" to it's Canadian viewership (pander in quotes because I'm not really criticizing them). Stating that Schultz is only looking at Canadian teams is a patent attempt to do so.
