Dangerous. They made that mistake with Erixon last season.
I don't think it was a mistake, really. We had enough dmen to cover ourselves in case he wasn't ready (or would have, if not for injuries). I think the mistake was that we didn't get another dman before the deadline. If counting on Erixon was a mistake, it was a correctable one. The same holds true for Schultz.
Erixon is a mistake? Ummmm. since when? How about he plays more than a few games before he's considered a "mistake?" He's still considered a very good prospect and I think he's going to make the team out of camp.

You misunderstood. He said counting on Erixon to secure a spot was a mistake. Not that acquiring him was a mistake.
Ottawa being in is interesting. Karlsson plays the same side as Schultz and as long as he's around, Schultz will never be the go to guy and will never get #1 PP minutes

It's not uncommon for a team to play two same-handed defensemen on the PP
We'll have to say something really special at the meeting with him, because things are not really looking to be in our favor. Talk about against all odds.

Basically...
I guess McKenzie knew what he was talking about when he first mentioned Canadian teams.
If the Rangers were in Canada, this would be a slam dunk.imo.
Erixon is going to be very good, not sure this is an indictment of him at all. Might have consequences for impending big-raise dman Michael Del Zotto though.
If you can get a top forward for MDZ, get Schultz and have Erixon in the wings, keep Stralman (maybe) and progress on the Sauer front...
