Buf/min

- Derek Roy + 12th Overall Pick+ 3rd Rounder

- Jason Zucker + 7th Overall Pick

This would fill the hole in the C position for Wild as behind Koivu last season it was pretty thin. (Christensen, Brodziak, Peters). This would also give them the option of putting Granlund on the wing.

Buffalo would move Roy, move up in the draft and obtain a young gritty player in Zucker. This would allow Ennis & Coho to be the go to C's in Buffalo.

Keep in mind this is my first proposal. Tell me where to add and such.

Take out the third rounder and I think the value is pretty good.

That said, I don't think Buffalo would look to move up to seven. I'd imagine if they trade up of it'd be for Galchenyuk/Grigorenko/Forsberg - none of those players are expected to be around at seven. I don't think trading up for Faksa is worth it.

Not a bad proposal though.

Yeah I guess, i'm not sure if Faska or Teuvo would be worth moving up for.

....Why do we create a hole at center just to move up a few spots to a place where the draft options aren't any better then where we are at now? If Roy gets moved another center needs to come back or already be in place.

Galchenyuk, Grigorenko, or Forsberg must still be on the board for this to make much sense for Buffalo.

Not bad for value. IMO Buffalo only does this if they have something worked out with MTL or NYI to swap the 7th & 12th + prospect/player for the 3rd or 4th pick.

Unless Galchenyuk and/or Grigorenko are still on the board there will be no deals to move up IMO.

Sabres have questions at center? Trade for a winger!!

Doesn't make sense for a team in a 'playoffs or bust' scenario. They need guys that will play NOW, and unless you're in the top 5 you probably aren't going to draft that.

LW Jason Zucker

Age: 20
Ht: 5-11 Wt: 180
Shoots: L
Drafted by Minnesota in 2010 (2/59).

ASSETS: Plays with a great combination of skill and energy. Skates very well and never quits on a play. Is also responsible in his own zone.

FLAWS: Lacks ideal size for the National Hockey League game, so he will have to prove capable of producing good numbers at the highest level.

CAREER POTENTIAL: Skilled scoring winger with upside.

Very good skating 2-way left winger, high-character kid.

A winger who plays NCAA hockey and captained last year's U-20 WJHC Team USA.

He's a "grit" guy who can really skate and has a decent shot. He works hard and will play the physical game. Won't skate away from a scrum. Not great puck handling nor particularly good hockey/sense instincts. Just a skate and bang north south kind of guy.

His upside is 3rd line winger who could possible play a top 6 role with the right line-mates. Being chosen as a captain for the U-20 team would lead me to believe he's got some good leadership qualities.

Struggling to come up with an NHL comparable at the moment. I'd say if he pans out like expected you're looking at a 30-40 winger in the mold of Tropp. Hard to know if he's a fighter or not since I've only ever seen him play NCAA and IIHF.

This based on 2-3 NCAA games, two full WJC U-20's, and stuff I've read on HFboards.

Thanks all for the info on Zucker.

A player I wouldn't mind having in the fold. But I don't think getting him and moving up 5 spots is worth giving up Roy for.

This is a trade I'd be happy with at the draft given the availability of certain players after the 6th pick.

Could something like this be the springboard Buffalo needs to move up to the top 3?

The teams may balk at moving from 2 to 12, but if they could turn 12 into 7 and then 7 into 1,2, or 3 it may make it easier to move into the top 3. Does 7 and 21 or 7, 42 and Brennan or some other combo get them into the top 3?
