One more set of eyes/contacts to contribute to the mess created here. Hopefully he'll bring some sanity back with him.

Have to wonder about Craigs health. Is he just bringing his wife Debbie home to be with her family again.

LOLWUT????

I can't believe that the MacT rumors were true.

At least he wasn't brought back as coach although i expect him to take over when whoever is hired this offseason is fired in 2 seasons. Either that or MacT will take over for Tambellini as GM when he's fired after the Oilers fail again this upcoming season.
I have officially lost all faith in the organization. Old Boys Club indeed.

If he's here with specific duties, ie to straighten out the pro scouting mess that's one thing, if he's just Tambo's heir apparent this is pretty ridiculous.

How many managers does this club need?

Seems like an executive club. "We still like you, you want a job doing nothing?"

Is this a pro hockey team or a *job* retirement club?

I guess this means we wont be making a pitch for Penner this summer.

What are Toby Peterson and Liam Reddox up to?

I'm not against it. I would say that MacT is highly respected around the league and in hockey circles. Why gripe about it? It's not like he's coaching.

Certain people just don't like him. Like I have always said MacT is a Stanley Cup winner several times over, coached an eighth place team to within one game of said Cup and didn't just get stupid overnight.

Couldn't have said it any better myself.

If anyone wants to find a small positive here, he attained a Master's Degree in Business from Queen's so at least he's not completely unqualified.

Some comments are hilarious. He is not going to be a GM. He is a smart guy. he is not coaching.

I fully expect Laraque, Pisani and Moreau to be offered positions in the front office this summer.

Katz always takes care of his.

I think most people's issue with it isn't as much about his coaching performance or hockey knowledge but more with the appearance of it and what it means about this organization.

Everyone here was hoping that his firing and Tambellini's hiring might finally mean a fresh start and a new era for the Oilers. One built upon the shoulders of young, blue chip players and a fresh approach to management and coaching.

Unfortunately we have learned since then that Katz/Lowe care more about giving their old friends a job and keeping everything status quo than running a respectable franchise.

my issue lies solely in what he may or may not be doing next. MacT is a great hockey mind but also a worrisome guy to have in a position of power. We don't want to see the MacBlender throwing out lines of Eberle Horcoff Jones or Hall Belanger RNH.

That being said, if he's around to fix the pro scouting then that's excellent. The type of players the oilers need now are MacT players. We have the top heavy scorers.
I can come around to this if he's going to be kept in a small role. I'd also love it if he was vocal. Haha

It's potentially bad if he becomes GM or coach, besides that, I don't mind it too much TBH. And yes I was probably the founding member of the fire MacT bandwagon back in the day.

Ah the meltdown was as amusing as I thought it would be.

As for his return, he's a knowledgeable hockey guy, so I don't have a problem with it.

How many managers do we need.

How many times do we have to attempt time travel.

Why can't we move forward with fresh faces and new opinions, rather than continuously brining in the old.

There are tons of knowledgable hockey guys out there, why do they have to bring back MacT of all people? This is the same guy who got fired by the same regime only 3 short seasons ago and now he gets a promoted title.
It's the same nonsense with Lowe getting promoted for doing a crap job and likely Krueger getting promoted for being a part of the coaching staff of a cellar dweller.
It makes no sense man. The more things change the more they stay the same.

That's what I'm thinking. I really don't even know what this job means as a whole either, but MacT is a very smart man and depending what he is going to do this probably helps us.

we were never 30th place with him behind the bench...not saying I want him to coach, but he's a smart guy that's been in the league for a long time
