Would you guys be interested in getting Tyler Bozak as our 2C?

You mean his god awful decisionmaking, his utter inability to read plays, his glacial footspeed or his incomprehensible belief that he is actually an offensive defenseman?

Even neutered Hammer is twice the player he is.

The Toronto hype machine doesn't work on Swedish Hawks players.

Agreed. I think there is a good chance he gets dealt after a few of the free agents sign.

Where did you get lost? I think that's exactly the plan

To me the plan was to sign Oduya to replace Hammer, then trade Hammer for assets provided we get a good return.

If that was the case, I think he would have been dealt already.

We're still missing our 2nd and 3rd next year. I think Blow would rather add picks for next year, maybe a bottom 6 player for this year too depending on the deal.

In other "WTF were the Isles thinking?" news, the Islanders apparently offered Columbus every draft pick from this year in return for the BJs second pick in order to land Murray.

http://www.bluejacketsxtra.com/conte...eir-picks.html

To recap, this would've been the trade....

Islanders get:
2nd overall pick

Blue Jackets get:
4th overall pick
34th overall pick
65th overall pick
103rd overall pick
125th overall pick
155th overall pick
185th overall pick

Freaking sounds like a proposed trade from these boards.

And now, in "WTF were the BJs thinking" news.....

They turned all that down! I guess it makes sense, as the also fired four of their amateur scouts, as the must've believed that they didn't have a clue who to draft further down to make such a trade worthwhile.

Aside from the foot speed, you just described Hjlamarsson.

Schenn is better offensively by a fair margin, and the defense can always be worked on as the player gets older.

Hammer is barely better than Schenn at this point in their careers.

Hammer at this point is so much better than Luke Schenn, it's not even close.

Just thought it was interesting that every single player the Red Wings drafted, is already 6 feet or taller already...

Those picks will hunt us for sure

we already have too many prospects, no problem with this

No, it's closer than you are saying.

Hammer isn't much better than Schenn, and Schenn has far more room to grow.

If Hammer is so good, we should be able to get a top 3 forward for him right? Someone better than JVR?

Schenn was a healthy scratch at times on the LEAFS. Hammer actually has more room to grow than Schenn I think too. Hammer's offensive potential I think is much higher than he's playing, he has a great tool set there. Schenn won't be anything more than a #6/7 in the NHL with his skating unless he improves it dramatically.

Do you watch hockey?
GM's know what they are doing, for the most part. GM's don't trade JVR for a #6/7.

Schenn will be better than Hammer both offensively (he already is) and defensively by the time all is said and done.

LOL I love the "do you watch hockey" people. GMs aren't perfect, they make mistakes. JVR was signed to a huge contract, was injured this year and hasn't lived up to anything yet. Philly needs to get better on the back end, if Holmgren likes Schenn that doesn't mean he's a sure fire player, it means one guy or one staff likes him.

This is the same GM that traded away Carter and Richards cause they "couldn't win with guys like that."

Pavelec stays in Winnipeg for the next 5 years. 3.9 Cap Hit.

THAT would be the goalie I want with that contract

And Winnipeg just had a collective sigh of relief.

I think it's more of a recognition that Winnipeg'd be up **** creek if Pavelec bolted, as they really wouldn't be in a position to upgrade (or even land a comparable replacement) in that net for next season.
