Howson should be fired. That team is a trainwreck.

I think Columbus could have done better but I simply don't like Nash. He also has a large cap hit to boot. Let's see how he does in NY if he struggles and the media dogs him.

People forget that Nash wanted out of CBJ. Howson wasn't dealing from a position of strength here.

The value isn't great but I think they're better off

15th in the West next year.
hard to get a ton in return when the guy pretty much said he will only play for 5 teams... those teams had Columbus by the nards in this deal no matter what they did, thats why he should have moved Nash at the deadline this past season..

I think Columbus got good return in this deal, and I laugh at all the people saying they got robbed... how do you get robbed by trading away a player that doesnt want to play for you? The value in return will easily meet and beat Nash's declining production, and they are no longer strangled by that albatross contract.

I think the Blue Jackets are going to surprise a few teams and be a very gritty tough team to play against. They are building a great young blueline over there, and in 3-4 years should be a playoff team if they continue to draft well and get solid young players in trades.

This deal is about as good as the BJ's could have gotten for Nash....they now have more bodies to spread around this coming season....

Not denying that the BJs were in a tough spot, but it was still a lousy trade for them. Ended up giving away their star franchise player for a decent prospect and a couple scrubs, with no guarantee that any of them would be interested in staying for a second longer than their contract requires them to.

I would hardly call Anisimov and Dubinsky scrubs... both would be a God send as our #2 center. Both are 40 point plus players and together will out perform Nash fairly easily imo...

I understand that the package lacks that super star prospect or young gun, but as I said, with how the cards were dealt, the BJ's got NHL talent in return, plus a young stud on the blueline as well as another 1st round pick in a draft that looks as deep and strong as we have seen in 5-8 years.... that pick can be moved up in a package to land an even bigger prize

I'm with AD.
Not a bad return at all imo.

Do people forget what Heatley got in return after demanding a trade? This return is miles ahead of the return OTT got for a similar player.

Yep, after thinking about the deal for a while, I have to say that Columbus got a pretty solid return. Considering Nash asked for the trade and everyone knew about it, his trade value was less than it otherwise would have been... and let us all also remember that Nash isn't really that great of a player to begin with. Pretty much a 35/30 guy. Good player, but constantly overrated.

Dubinsky's pretty good, and Anisimov is as well. Erixon should turn out well, and the 1st is in a deep draft.

It was Howsen who let the world know "Nash demanded" trade and thus tanked his value

The Rangers got the face of franchise in Nash for not a signle top tier prospect or young player that there GM was demanding

The Blue Jackets got a cap dump 2nd/3rd liner , A 3rd line C , A formerly disgruntled prospect (Who was a 2nd tier prospect in Rangers system) and a late 1st rounder

Sorry but in the end this was a horrendous deal for Jackets

When you trade the face of your franchise you dont settle for ok role players and low quality pick/prospects

Hahahaha the guy that BWC wanted the Hawks to trade for earlier this off-season he now calls a cap dump and a decent player. This guys act never gets old.

In retrospect if this was the return for Patrick Kane (god forbid he wanted a trade), hawks fans would be devastated.

I do think CBJ got better though. More depth instead of Nash who was wasting away. It's not like Nash was putting up 80-90 points every year.

Ya, kind of what I was thinking.

Anyone thinking they could of got more for Nash has no clue. Clearly, it was the best offer they were given. What are they supposed to do?

Doesn't anyone remember what Heatley was traded for?

Well, there is no way Kane would get that little of value in return. Because he is 4 or 5 years younger, makes 1.5mil less, and is a dynamic offensive player, unlike Rick Nash.

Heatley was traded for Michalek, Cheechoo, and a few other scraps. Michalek was the best of the bunch last season.

I thought Doan wanted to win. The Canadians are pretty much the only team softer than us and they're a lot further from a contender.

Go to Montreal, please. I hate the guy. He'd get no Cup, would weaken Phoenix, and would not go to a place that could hurt us.

Yeah, I don't get it either. I still think Vancouver makes the most sense for him, based on teams that would also be interested in him.

Doan to Nucks IMO or he stays with the Yotes.

This will bring up/down the price for Luongo.

If they sign Doan, they may like futures more than now. If they can't sign Doan, they want a guy that could play in the Top6

I'm still half expecting the Rangers to go after Doan.
