Im fully expecting us to go after nobody. I mean we're sitting pretty, Saads good for 30+ goals, Krugers a lock for second line centre, Crawdaddy will have the Vezina sewn up by January. It's all good in Bowmans world. Nope nothing to worry about here.

My post may seem rather negative but it's hard not to be with the way Stan is conducting things. On the plus side I do look forward to Saad proving himself on this team and hopefully full seasons of Shaw and Carcillo.

Lubomir Visnovsky has reiterated that he does not want to be an Islander. Only one year left at 3M for him. He isn't exactly the type of guy I'd target with our needs, but if we could get him for a prospect valued in the 3rd round or so, I'd take the chance even after a down year in 2011. 2010 he was great.

Isles gave up a 2nd round pick for him, but now his value is even less than that since he said he doesn't want to play there... and actually filed an appeal back in late June against the trade, saying he wanted to use his NTC but I think the reason the trade went through was because he filed it late, or something like that. Memory is fuzzy on it without looking it up.

I would probably do Beach at this point, but don't think so on Morin.

Visnovsky isn't the type of player the Hawks need, but the type of player the Hawks need isn't available anymore as it is. Visnovsky is basically 10-11 Campbell - a pretty solid two-way defenseman. He would be a fantastic pick-up, and even despite the idiotic coaching would probably boost the PP a good bit as well.

I think a pairing of him and Hammer would work pretty damn well together. Problem is, that leaves Oduya and Leddy for the bottom pairing. I think they match up pretty terrible together, but I'd be ok with it especially with Brookbank as a 7.

Lubo would be awesome here. He's not the kind of guy the Hawks need? You kidding me? He'd be perfect on the second pairing with Hammer. Lubo was a contender for the Norris season before last.

I think we're far more in need of a physical guy personally, we have PMD already, but I would be thrilled if we got Lubo... but we still need a guy who hits, with grit, and plays more of a defensive role that what Lubo brings.

Well I mean assuming Bowman doesn't re-sign Oduya we have...

Keith-Seabrook
Visnovsky-Hjalmrasson
Leddy-Brookbank

That's a very balanced D core.

More room for Stannous to upgrade our roster with a Morrison or Oduya at the deadline!

At least Oduya took a "discount" when Bowman resigned him!

Did you miss when he resigned him a few months ago, for 3 more years? Oduya isn't going anywhere... If anyone is moved, it'd be Hammer, but that would hurt our defense to replace him with Lubo, so no sense in looking at something like that.

Or did I misinterpret your post? I do like what you posted, especially with a guy like Olsen as our 7th.

I don't know what would be the asking price for Lubo. I'd take him for sure. I'd trade Hjammer for him

Lubo would be great, an opportunity to undo a mistake in not getting him in the first place. I'm thinking they'd want a 2nd and 3rd so they come ahead. Not to mention, the 2nd they gave up is going to be quite high.

About what Versteeg got. I wonder if people here will be mad when Stalberg gets a similar contract

I will, which is why a smart GM would incorporate him in a trade to resolve one of our glaring weaknesses.

Depends on what is really going on. If he truly doesn't want to be an Islander, then I wouldn't go as far as 3rd round value prospect wise. If he really is posturing for the players association like some speculate, then he might not even be available and is just trying to help gain leverage in the CBA.

How is Vorocek a good deal then? Because he's younger than Stalberg?

He's a better all-around player and has a lot more potential than Stalbergo, IMO.

They are very similar all around players. Vorocek does have more potential but he's been 3 years around 48 points in 16 mins a game (never broke 20 goals)...sometimes you just are what you are (ex. Frolik).

Weren't two of those 3 years spent in the offense haven of Columbus though?

Ya and last year was in Philly and he put up pretty much identical numbers.

No way Stalberg commands $4 mil + on the FA market. He hasn't proven (yet) that he's on the same offensive level as Versteeg or Voracek.
