Just been reading some bizarre stuff in the Trade forum (I know, I know...) and I just wanted to ask Hawks fans a question:
Who is your #1 dman, Keith or Seabrook? And why?
Just trying to make sense of something, I'm not proposing anything and you won't see threads like: Ballard + Raymond + 2nd for Keith!!!!!11!!one! appearing anywhere because of this, I promise.
Please and thank-you.
Seabs is the number 1 and keith 1b, but everyone is still in denial about keith's true form, so 90% of hawks fans will say Keith is #1
No top pairing Dman
2nd pairing is really a 3rd pairing on a playoff team
3rd pairing should be in the AHL
Have fun with that, Philly!
Go ahead and add Lilja to the list. Reports are saying he can come back by December, others say sooner. He just turned 37 so I can't imagine he'll be a whole lot of good even on the 3rd pairing until the end of the year. Hip surgery for Lilja.
Holmgren has to be shopping aggressively now, even for depth. There may be an opportunity. Tough to believe he would part with a good player though.
1 month, 10 days until preseason starts. Being a bandwagoner, this is the first season for me that starts on a pessimistic note. I hope we come out hard.

just looked at the stats and saw that 2 Hawks were in the Top10 in Western Conf scoring.
Kane was #13 in the western conf.
Toews was #26 and would have been Top3 over 80+ games
Yep. Hawks very likely have the best top-4 forwards of any team in the NHL, all factors considered. The problems arise once you get past the elite players on this roster.
I like the Hartnell deal for the Flyers. Wonder how this will all work with the CBA but yeah, Holmgreen will trade a Top6 player for an overpaid scrub in a year
Hartnell's contract on it's own is a very good contract. The NMC probably cost Hartnell a few million. This really makes me scratch my head about the Simmonds contract.
According to Icethetics.... the Hawks might be thinking about un-retiring their Winter Classic thirds?
Quote:
Early reports had the Chicago Blackhawks resurrecting their old black third jersey after retiring their Winter Classic-inspired alternate in 2011. Now, that may no longer be true.
Reebok's message to retailers had indicated the Hawks would have no third jersey, just like last season. But more recent updates list a "black" third jersey for the club. But does that mean the 1996 black or the 2009 Winter Classic black?
There is one potential indication. A video featuring Blackhawks draftee Teuvo Teravainen shows the first-rounder in a couple of behind-the-scenes photo shoots and autograph signings in which he's wearing the Winter Classic-inspired sweater. Why produce marketing materials with your newest star wearing a jersey he'll never wear in a game? Unless he will wear it in a game.
All of these details are kind of circumstantial. We'll have to wait until we hear something from the team or see them take the ice wearing something that's not white or red.
Hall just got extended for 6M a year over 7 years... I'm not sure I'd have given him that right now, or at least that long of a deal.
Sounds like they are way overpaying him now, with the hope that the contract is a bargain within a few years. Probably a good gamble to take, so they have a chance of locking all these young guns up.
Locking down their young guns certainly is good for them (and I honestly half-expected them to fail doing so), but let's see what else they've done. They've gotten several great forwards the past couple years and have done nothing with them so far, so let's see what they add to compliment them.
