Much speculation is saying the firing is about Luongo. Apparently one side wasn't willing to pull the trigger on getting him and the other side disagreed. That could be totally wrong.
Why not fire him after last year? Why have him in charge of your 2012 draft?
Now there’s a front office with some balls ….
Or …. did he resign because they wouldn’t agree to take on Luongo’s ridiculous contract? That sounds like BB - I’ll bet the latter, but we may never know

Strange timing on Burke....would love to see the Hawks axe Stan and bring in Burke. He may have screwed up in Toronto, but he's done good before there. You can't win them all.

So basically a power struggle with ownership that Burke lost is speculation
Sorta how Hossa/Havlat situation is rumored to have gone down

Hell to the no on Burke. The guy wants attention and did nothing to make the Leafs better. The Easter Conference is also weaker than the Western Conference. He still couldn't make the playoffs. He has a good run in Anaheim, but he is not better than Bowman. Absolutely would not bring him and his attention garbage and subpar decision-making to this team. It would be absolutely awful. There would be discussion about how we all took Stan for granted if this clown came.

You're forgetting the Canucks, who are still to this day benefitting from Burke being their GM.
That comment I made was a back handed stab at our front office. Do they have what it takes to realize Stan is not up to the task?
I think they will if this season goes bad. If the season goes bad, to me it's a given that everyone will be launched from Q to Stan and most people in between.
My comments about wanting Burke now instead of Stan - well I know Stan won't get fired right now. If Burke is still available in 6 months...and if the Hawks fail again this year (let's hope not)...then maybe he could land here then.

Burke is terrible GM
Ducks won cup with team built by Murray
Your hate for Stan is absurd if you think Burke is an improvement
Yeah I don't see the Sedins and Kesler as an only. That's a pretty darn good building block. If only he had the Sedins and Kesler in Toronto.
Kesler was a good pick, Sedins were gimmies.
And how good are they, really? I mean, they don't show up at all when it really matters, and the other is injury prone.
If the Leafs had the Sedins and Kesler, they would lose in the first round every year, or not make it at all.
I'm sure they do, Stan hasn't had a fair shake yet.
He had a fair shake after capocalypse happened. He has done a nice job in some areas. No excuse for not acquiring a top-six center in some fashion. None.

No he hasn't.
1st year = cap hell
2nd year = crappy FA pool
3rd year = crappy FA pool and a CBA was up (told by management not to acquire long term deals)
****, Burke would have made moves in an attempt to improve the team. He wouldn't have just sat back and watched it struggle when the answers to the problems were so clear.

Right, but I'm more concerned about Stan thinking Corey Crawford is our guy than the #2 center. At least with center there's guys they can patch in there. There is no answer in the organization for the bad goaltending.
