Burke would leave a mess here. He would trade Sharp or Seabrook more than likely.

**** Burke.

Yep look at how wonderful all those moves Burke made to turn the Leafs around worked out

Honesty I don't care what he leaves...if it brings a cup. Dale left a mess, but it was worth it 100X over. We're still enjoying the fruits of that mess.

Now I understand Burke could leave a mess and not win a cup, but I'd take my chances. Stan seems afraid to pull the trigger on deals.

He would dump both Hayes bros and Stalberg within days of coming here

Burke spoke very highly of Jimmy Hayes after he traded him to the Hawks. Not sure why you think he would send him packing. Stalberg I agree he would probably trade and to that I say who cares?

What about Hiller? He found him under a rock.

Burke didn't like him as prospect despite his public statements

He was viewed as a too soft a bigman by Burke

Could be true and there does seem to be some truth to him being a soft big man at times.

All it takes is one and you're hopefully set for 5-10 years.

Gotta wonder if this opens door for Kessel to be moved with him being FA after next year

If new GM comes in wanting to reshape team he would likely view Kessel as a guy who he can move and get good haul

And what happens when the GM think Dan Cloutier is the one?

Or if this means Luongo might be heading there soon.

But if I'm Vancouver, I don't trade Luongo until the summer. In a short season with few days off, having 2 #1 goalies will be a huge advantage. #1 goalies won't be able to handle the same % of games as usual.

The same thing that happens when he thinks it is Turco or a tandem of Crawford/Emery that he goes out of his way to bring back at a higher salary rather than make an improvement to.

Turco was only viable option in FA that year at that cost

And we shall see but for 1 of Crawford's 2 years as #1 he was good

We will learn this year if Craw was flash in pan or legit

Sounds like Burke did NOT want to make Luongo deal, while many in Leafs org did. Burke a principled man.

Mark Spector Sports ‏@SportsnetSpec
Can absolutely see Burke digging held in on a deal/contract as impactful as Luongo. No self-respecting GM can have that trade forced on him

Mark Spector Sports ‏@SportsnetSpec
Not liking deal, Burke would not come close to matching Canucks requirements to move Luongo. Canucks adamant: They're not giving goalie away
If this is true, then it just drove Luongo's price way up.

Now I am intrigued to see what happens with Luongo even more

If the Leafs again get fleeced horribly like Kessel deal

I had no issues with the Turco signing. It didn't work out and they moved on. Crawford is different. After a mediocre career in the minors, and then this past horrible season - I don't think he is worth gambling our team's season on again.
