What team (& what player) has an available top-6 winger up for grabs for the likes of Knight, Spooner, Koko, draft picks/ etc..? Suggesting that this scenario is even an option is crazy talk.
Who said you can't move one of the existing top 6 to improve? You could move a DK or Lucic if the right player came along, easily.

It is technically possible though, if they threw enough money at Parise...

Marchand would be a perfect fit on the 3rd line IMO. He's almost like a grittier Peverley. If it were up to me, I'd look to upgrade the top-6 and bump him down a line.

I like this idea too. You can try and exploit weak D pairings at home with Marchand and Peverley. Let Caron try and do what Lucic does with Krejci and Horton.

Lucic-Bergeron-Seguin
Caron-Krejci-Horton
Marchand-Kelly-Peverley
Paille-Campbell-Thornton

Marchand-Bergeron probably have the most chemistry on the team. They're the last players I'd split up, although they're also the only two players in the top 6 that could fit the mold of a bottom 6 grinder as well.

it'd be very entertaining. well worth a $7 million cap hit.

Those are the exact lines I would want to have if they don't bring Pouliot back even though I'm not sure about Jagr, but he could fill in that spot.

I could be very wrong but I think PC will make a couple of moves between now and the start of the season:

1) Pouilet is a RFA so he will be traded at the draft for a second.
2) This is the one that many will diagree with, I could see Marchand moved in a package for a high end top 6 winger. This is just a feeling not sure PC is willing to pay Marchand the money he will be looking for in next contract.

The post I replied to stated "add a legit top line winger, and it slides down one of the B's top 6 into the 3rd line". I interpreted that as: Chia should add a top line winger, and bump down one of Horton Lucic Marchand or Seguin to 3rd line, which means neither of them are being traded for said 'top line winger'.

I agree. I just don't see any other way you can upgrade the top-6 and 3rd line with one roster move.

If we signed Jagr I'd be tempted to go with Marchand-Bergeron-Jagr. That would be a beastly line along the boards.

The Bruins should focus on the top 6 not the 3rd line.

My guess on Parise's 2012-'13 team tote board: 1 Detroit, 2 Toronto, 3 Rangers, 4 Minnesota, 5 Boston.

I like the concept. I think Marchand makes a great 3rd line wing honestly.

I'd target a guy like Whitney though, Jagr isn't coming to Boston. Even if he does test the market he will likely be priced well outside Boston's range. Whitney has always seemed to fly under the radar.

And you can, as long as the player you bring in is a UFA, like Parise is. He's obviously the top target of everyone, but there are other UFA's that could slid into a top 6 roll. Jagr is a guy who you wouldn't bury on a 3rd line, so you put him up with DK and see how it goes. He's old, but he'd at least be a decent option if Horton doesn't come back to form. Whitney too. Semin again would cost you nothing but money. He's got warts in his game, but he's a top 6 talent. Selanne too. Point is, there are players out there that you can add without taking anything away. I personally would like them to take a run at Bobby Ryan, but that would cost you a guy like DK plus.

I don't like thinking of it as top-6 offense, and then more defensive minded in the bottom 6. You could bump Seguin "down" a line and sign a more offensive minded player (let's say Whitney).

Lucic-Krejci-Horton
Marchand-Bergeron-Peverley
Whitney-Kelly-Seguin
Paille-Campbell-Thornton

That gives you three more or less equal offensive lines, all of which you can depend on defensively as well. It also gives you the option to play Seguin at center. It doesn't necessarily imporve the top 6, but it does improve the offense overall.

On board with Jagr as long as "Moves Like Jagger" is banned just like "Teach Me How to Dougie."

I've said it before, but I only want Jagr if he agrees to regrow his early NHL years mullet. Has to be part of the deal, or I pass...

I really starting to think we should go with a youth movement on the third line. We have plenty of kids that can play, we should give them a shot. Its not like we would need any of them to play on the pk and theyd have Kelly on their line to cover them defensively. If we want a truely balanced attack, I'd go with a lineup like this (assuming horton is out):

Lucic-Krejci-Seguin
Marchand-Bergeron-Caron
Spooner-Kelly-Peverley
Paille-Campbell-Thornton
Knight

I don't think of it like the that. With Kelly, I see the 3rd line as more of a high energy secondary scoring unit. He's a straight ahead player with limited distribution skills. Not the kind of center I want between pure skill players like Whitney and Seguin. Lucic and Marchand on the other hand.......

Whitney-Bergeron-Seguin
Lucic-Krejci-Horton
Marchand-Kelly-Peverley
Paille-Campbell-Thornton

How about Lucic, being replaced by Parise.
Anyone else want them to get an upgrade for the !st line and let the talent trickle down to the lower line thus improving the entire team?

And isn't Ray Whitney a RW? or can he play both? See him being an upgrade for Horton especially on the PP

Well obviously you don't make the Krejci trade til you sign Parise. The cap doesn't count til Day 1 right?

You could sign Semin, move Horton to the 3rd (if healthy), move Pevs to center and Kelly becomes an upgrade at 3rd line LW
