Just thinking, whoever we pick at #5, (if we stay there and don't trade up or down) do you believe they will be under the spot light as much as kadri and schenn and be under pressure to perform well? Also would this pick take pressure off of kadri and schenn in the media perhaps?

The Leafs scouts and management will in fact take into account, and consider when selecting a player knowing they will face constant scrutiny and pressure from the media & fan base and decide if they have the ability to deal with it.

Its like that for all players not just prospects though as it comes with the territory of playing in Toronto.

Unless he actually successfully becomes the actual saviour of the franchis that the Toronto Media will hype him to be, yes, he will be scrutinized to death...he may even be scrutinized if he were to become the leagues premier player just because this is TO!

The only people who succumb to pressure in a market like this are guys who are frauds to begin with. They play hockey, they are well taken care of and protected, enjoy everything the market has to offer 90% of the time. It's only right they get criticized when they're doing a poor job.

The fans do it too. Look at how many fans have turned on Schenn and Kadri. They will also turn on whoever the Leafs pick at 5 this year. They are also the ones who were so passionetly cheered for the tank.

No I don't believe they will be scrutinized at all, or judged if they are found wanting.

Yes, something tells me the media will leave this pick alone this time.

Unless he is the best player to come out of the draft, and right away at that as well, he will be scrutinized a lot. If he can manage to become the best player from the draft, then they will start comparing him to past #5 picks and if he isn't, they will scrutinize him. But if he is the best player to be chosen at #5 for quite some time and the best player in his draft, then maybe, just maybe, he will be given a break.

Burke isn't falling under the pressure of the Media... I mean if Kadri ain't ready, he ain't playing regardless.

I like that.
Give the prospects time.

I know Kadri and Schenn will shut their critics up. At least we're not rushing Kadri, not everyone can be Tavares, Duchene etc and just jump into the NHL and score 50 points.

Sure as the sun rises everyday!

It never takes the pressure of any player.
