Kovy's on huge TOI numbers heavily coincide with goons in the lineup. Dig up the score sheets, and compare the TOI's when Boulton/Janssen were in the lineup, and you'll see what I mean.
That wasn't always the case as there were a few games since Gionta has been in the lineup in the playoffs where Kovy got 25 minutes, but there were more games in the 20-22 minutes range. I don't think they were taking it easy cause of the injury if I had to guess cause even later in the playoffs he would get the odd 25 minutes or more in a game.
It would have been awesome to see him in the playoffs completely healthy. The magic shot only worked for so long. We've got him for 13 years so I really don't think it's a good idea to play him like that. A lot of people have expressed concern that Marty playing 75 games a year well into his late 30s might have caught up to him.
