Mathletic's Rankings for the 2013 QMJHL Draft

So, here's my first try at rankings for the Q draft. For those who don't know me. My rankings are based only on data. They range from goals, assists to stuff like height and weight. Anything I can find baiscally. You can take a look at my latest rankings for the NHL draft.

http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh...547&highlight=

I'm not trying to predict the draft order. Simply who will be the best Q players. Only players present in my rankings are from the Q/NB-PEI/NS/NL Midget AAA leagues. You will not find Midget Espoir, High School and various other players. So, examples of players missing: Nathan Noel, Noah Hanifin, Daniel Sprong, etc.

There could still be players missing on my lists. I tried to speed things up a bit, so I could post this before the draft. Feel free to ask any question.

Forgot to translate the positions for each player but here they are for those wondering:

AG = LW
AD = RW
DG = LD
DD = RD

To give you an idea, say you had the 12th overall pick and the equivalent pick in subsequent rounds. If you followed my lists this is how your draft would have turned out in recent years.

I tried to avoid players who threatened of going the US route like Huberdeau. That said, it's possible there may still be a few. Please let me know if there is any left. Also, I wasn't sure when the US rule came in, so for now I only stick to the Q, NB-PEI, NS and NL Midget AAA players.

Edit: Changed some picks due to the 15 year old rule prior to 2011

The list is really interesting.

Why didn't you use players from Espoirs? Lack of stats?

Is there a "bonus" granted for points in playoffs ? - Since most of them are 15 years old they might have big improvements in their play from the start of the season and the end.

Your maths seems to confirm the notion that this is a defender year for the Q.

Yeah, I don't have the stats for the western league. I could do the eastern but lacked some time to get it done. I may post an update sometime this summer with the added players.

Sure is a year for the D in the Q. Should be interesting how many go in the first round tomorrow.

I also started playing around giving "grades" to prospect coaches. Bryan Lizotte, HC for SSF gets the highest grade among coaching candidates in the Q.

I wonder what are the main criterias for your grades?

Giving grades is complicated when you know the prospect pool for College Notre-Dame or Jonquière is really not the same as, let's say, LSL or SFF

I won't go into too much details, as I try to keep these things for myself as much as possible. It's not impossible I could get some papers published in the near future. That said, the idea is always the same. How much more does a player or in this case a coach, bring to the table compared to an average player or objective expectations in this case.
