If Quinn joins the staff, doesn't that mean that we would be looking for a head coach in the AHL. In which case, why wouldn't they give Lefebvre that opportunity??? And would an assistant coaching job be an upgrade for Quinn? Seems like a weird couple of moves, but wouldn't be the first time this organization has made questionable moves. (Granato)

It looks as though, Sly wanted to be the head coach somewhere in the AHL in order to have the opportunity to get an NHL gig at some point. The opportunity/exposure is probably better with the Habs than with the Avs. The Habs also seem more trigger happy with their head coaches than the Avs have been so that presents a better opportunity for sure in that regard.
I do have the feeling though that Lefebvre knows it's just not going to end well with Sacco and the Avs and that he's better off distancing himself from that situation. Now he gets the opportunity to run his own ship with a new organization and if things go well, he might get an offer at an NHL job next summer. As opposed to possibly being fired before Christmas and have to look for work somewhere. I think this was well calculated and a smart move for him going forward.

Head coaching gigs are pretty exclusive, even at the AHL level. It's hard to pass up that type of opportunity.
i would guess that Quinn would replace him as an assistant but the AHL team would be left with a hole at HC.
wouldn't be upset if we hired a really experienced NHL assistant for the job though. would be the best scenario.
Talked to Duncan Siemens about David Quinn a couple months back. He said that when he was in the AHL at the end of the season they got skated soooo hard.
Duncan said he could hardly walk for two days after one of the skating sessions they had, his hamstrings were so tight and sore.
I hope he doesn't have a reputation as being a hard ass, because that's the kind of act that wears thin quickly and can cause problems in a room, especially a young room.

Definitely wears thin, but sometimes works.
Also, I think most of our guys could use some work in the endurance department. EJ should be playing 25+ a night. And Duchene seems to be tired 20 seconds into his shifts. Maybe it just seems that way because the defensive side of the ice is sooo much longer than the offense for Matt.

Considering Sacco lost the lockerroom this way, it's far too true.
I don't see Quinn joining the staff as an Assistant.
It will be interesting to see what happens to be honest... just glad to see the assistants get shaken up so we can zero in on the real problem being Sacco, not his staff.

Sacco lost the lockerroom? First I heard of it. He seems to be a players coach.

Yeah. Not sure why anyone would think he is a hard ass. He seems to be a players coach and most of the players like him. The only reason guys don't is because of his poor choices, not because he is tough on the locker room.
I prefer they hire from outside the organization, this group clearly isn't working. If what you have isn't getting you in the playoffs then why keep going in the same direction (also same logic behind why I question the Hunwick/McLeod signings).

There has been reported problems between him and several players off and on since he started. Most of the players he had issue with have been kicked out of town though, guys like Stewart, Galiardi and Quincey.
Sure Quincey was angry after the trade and said a few things he likely regrets, but they likely ring true about Sacco seeming to play favorites. The constant playing of Hunwick when he was ********* terrible two years ago speaks to that as well.

The whole organization soured on Quicey when he said he won't say he's injured in the future because he can't get back in the winning lineup. It seems liek they did a good job when they got rid of Stewart and I watched TJ play after the trade in San Jose and he looked pretty much like he looked in Colorado, wildly inconsistent.
