Hawks moving up to 10-12 in the Draft

So I have my eye on Zemgus Girgensons in the upcoming draft and figure he'll be gone by the time we pick at #18 so what would it take to move up to the 10-12 range assuming our 1st is a aprt of the deal?

Yeah not gonna happen

Not getting the Hawks best D prospect and 2009 1st round pick (Who made his NHL debut this past season) to move up 8 spots

considering Girgensons is a big center, I'm guessing something around Buffalo's 1st for McNeil is out of the question........

Olsen deal is a no, simply because we don't have much D depth in our system. WOuld consider it for a F prospect.

The McNeil is just a tad too much, I'd consider someone like Pirri who is a close to NHL ready top 6 prospect.

I'd consdier the 10 for our first and second.

No for Hammer.

McNeil for the #12 pick is fine...straight up though.

I love how fans give up on a prospect less then a year after they were drafted 18th and just months after they made there Pro Debut in minors

How on earth is getting more back than you used to draft him giving up on him? Can't wait to here this one.

I'd consider the 18th + Hayes (Kevin) for 10th + 2nd round

2011 draft > 2012 draft

If Mcneill was in this draft he likely is drafted 6-12

So I am not sure what value you think is being gained

Again why are we moving a 1st round drafted prospect before he even has gone pro? to move up 8 spots in draft and get a 2nd in weak draft

Because I think Girgensons has a legit shot to be a 2C in the NHL and I don't feel the same of McNeil.

Also, you seem pretty quick to not want to give up on prospects but very quick to judge which draft is better than another when one hasn't even taken place yet. Got to love the logic.

Hawks 1st (18th) + Hawks 2nd (48th) IMO would be value to move up if Hawks felt the need too

In 2010 the Bruins traded #19 + #59 to move up to #15

Its generally accepted amongst experts/analysts that this years draft is fairly weak

I have no interest in moving up. Trading McNeill for a higher pick is just a lateral move at best and just gives us a prospect that's a year further away then just keeping McNeill. We have some haters in our ranks that are concerned his assist numbers went down in the WHL but he was playing on a god awful team in Prince Albert. RNH would have been able to maintain high assist totals on that team, but most anyone else would struggle to accumulate them with that team.

And experts are never wrong right?

You never know who is going to pan out and who isn't, it's fine if you think the draft is weaker but I was just pointing our your flawed logic. The forward depth isn't there in this draft but there are tons of good d men that can be taken in the second round.

Yeah if we liked a specific guy there and the team with that pick felt they could get still get the player they wanted by moving back. Without specifics of what every GM wants and where they think it'll be taken it'd be pretty pointless to speculate on that here imo. We could just as easily be the team moving down and picking up an extra pick.

McNeill would not be in the top 10 this year.

As for the Hawks moving up...while I'm all for it, to me it would be move in to the top 6 or don't move up at all. My thinking is if could move McNeill for the #12, then turn around and flip both the #12 & #18 to crack the top #6. Then one of the big 6 is ours.

Every current draft is somehow simultaneously worse than the previous draft AND the subsequent draft.

Girgensons. I'd rather Buffalo sits tight at 12 than dealing the pick for McNeill.
