To kill a little boredom and bring some much needed conversation into HFBoard's I've decided to do start a poll of the collective opinion from all HFBoard users.
We are going to start off with a basic group of Stevens, Brodeur, Daneyko, Niedermayer, Elias, and MacLean, and narrow it down from there.
In each reply say who you voted for an also who you recommend to be in the next poll. The person (or persons if there is a tie) who recieves the most recommendations, will make the next list. I'm hoping I can manage to do this daily as well.
Some points I'd like to make.
1. We are judging only on what the player did while playing for the organization (i.e. Bill Guerin might've been great elsewhere, but he only had a brief time on the Devils).
2. We are judging for what they did while with the Devils, as in keep hatred of Niedermayer, Gomez, and Parise leaving aside.
3. It's not going to be about who your favorite player is, it's about who contributed the most to the organization in a player role.
4. Lastly, try to think of the players for their overall impact, and not in the diminished roles they were used later in their careers (White, Pandolfo).
I agree but I just thought that some people would see more value in what Stevens brought. I could see both sides of that argument to be honest.
What Stevens brought is invaluable, no doubt about that.
It's hard to not put a guy like Stevens #1, unless you have a guy like Marty on the same team as well
If you're looking at the impact the player had on the team, I have to go with Scott Stevens first.
