Trent Hunter

did not even know he was on the Kings, played 38 games with them this year then spent the rest in the AHL, looks like he wont be getting his name on the Cup, definitely sucks for him, 2 more Game in the NHL he would have his name on the cup as if you play 40 games with the team it qualifys you

While we're at it, we can bring in Mo Vaughn for competition.

But the long and short of it is if they beat out the competition I would give them a contract too.

haha

I liked Hunter when he was here, however his skills are definitely on the decline and I doubt they will get better

In his prime, a schoolbus had better acceleration than Trent Hunter, and now he's lost a couple of steps. I liked him, but if the Isles invite Hunter to camp they might as well invite Dave Scatchard too.

I followed him last season since he is my favorite hockey player, it was really tough not seeing him being recalled after Manchester got knocked out by the AHL champs Norfolk.

The major reason why he got waived was a political. Even though Dustin Penner was scratched 3 games in a row when Hunter got waive
http://lakingsinsider.com/2012/02/18...ce-for-penner/

Kings traded 2 first round picks and a conditional 2nd rounder to Edmonton last year.

MCL injuries take awhile to heal, I think Trent can be better next season. It took Michal Handzus awhile to recover from his injury as well.

I loved Hunter. I thought he would be the next captain of the team. But he is simply too slow for todays NHL. I wouldn't want him on the 4th line.

With that said, he may not get his name on the cup, but he'll definitely get a ring, and just might get his day with the cup. I'm happy for him.

I don't think Hunter will get his day with the Cup because he wasn't part of the celebration on Monday night. Also someone told me if Tim Jackman has a spot in the NHL, so can Hunter. But if he is going to resurrect his career it has to be with a bottom feeder like the Islanders. Since Jack Capuano said he would have used Hunter a lot, the Isles may take a chance at him. One couldn't say Rolston was an upgrade over Hunter last season.

He seems to have been tossed around in this organization quite a bit. Just wondering, do you think he was pulling for the Kings to win the Cup or really indifferent about the whole thing?

With a new CBA coming, perhaps the game will allow more clutch and grab due to so many concussions in the current NHL.

I understand people's love for Hunter. He was a passionate dude and was a sparkplug when he was called up in the playoffs against the Leafs that infamous year where our only fond memories have gone to die.

Then, he had a good full rookie season, but after that he was forced to play defensive hockey and really was a good shutdown guy. Now, he is just cold product. He's slowed and if you are a defensive specialist you have to be able to keep up. He might still get a shot with an NHL club, but I am not going to continue a love affair for him, I'll just have a few fond memories.

Rolston was definitely not an upgrade in that trade but I still believe that having either one would have made a lick of difference in the standings, only on payroll.

Hunter has been terrible the past 3 seasons and definitely on a noticeable decline.

He will most likely float back and forth between the AHL and the NHL for the rest of his career.

This. Only bring him back with a cheap deal for the purpose of emergency call-up, or when the Isles fail to sign any players and play him on the 4th line...because it's that or bury a prospect on the 4th line (again).

That's a little much. Trent is done, but he played his ass off when he could. Hating the guy is just insane.

Amen!!!!.I was finally able to go to games again and root for every player, on the team, unlike when Trent was on the team. That was mostly because of people saying he should be captain,on the 2nd line, and the power play.Or all the hits, that were never actually anywhere near where the puck was!!!!!.Thank god he is gone. Please don't bring him back.

Trent Hunter is one of the worst most useless players to ever lace up skates for the Islanders or any team in the NHL for that matter. He is quite possibly one of the top 50 worst players in the NHL of all time.

Wow.... you guys have real short memories. Trent Hunter was as loved here as Matt Martin is today, and for good reason. You should be ashamed of yourselves for what some of you are saying.

I think Rico Fata (an ex Canada World Junior player) Jeff tambellini would beat Trent on that list.
