I don't think the Ducks would have interest in moving up to first overall. They certainly might like to move up as high as 2 or 3, but probably not at the price they'd have to pay. Presuming they retain Perry, over the next few years they have Perry, Ryan, Etem, Palmieri, and DSP as wingers under 30. If they can't bolster their center depth through the draft because all the high end centers are off the board, I would expect them to turn to "BPA" at their position (that is such a worthless term...) or look for a physical defenseman. In that scenario they would have their pick of defensemen other than Murray. Considering wing is one of their least concerns, I don't think they'd be willing to part with the asset cost to move up to 1st overall.

Likewise, I can see Fletcher inquiring about a move to first, but he'd likely balk at the cost. Realistically, I don't see Edmonton making a deal to move back to 7 without at least one of Brodin or Hackett being involved in the deal. Maybe we could bid them down to 7th + Kuemper + Scandella, but that's still too high a price for me personally.

They wouldn't bite at all. They'd be looking for Coyle, Larsson, or Phillips. Coyle + 7th might get 1st overall. Larsson or Phillips we'd probably have to add.

Columbus just makes me sad. All of their draft picks end up sucking. Forsberg is going to be the same. Three years from now people are going to be wondering why Columbus spend the 2nd overall pick on a 3rd line winger.

Of course, we had some pretty bad runs with our 1st rounders too. Thelen. Pouliot, Sheppard. Gillies. Cuma. (Even though I was high on this pick, because Cuma was a great player until the injuries). Then trade Leddy for Barker. Ugh.

A certain team picking a prospect doesn't automatically make that prospect "bad." The team either misjudges the player's potential, or chooses the wrong development path for the prospect.

Well, that's my entire point.

If Columbus ranks a player high, it's probably because they are misjudging him.

I don't think you have to worry about that. Edmonton likely wouldn't want Brodin or Granlund for the #1 overall.

They are not misjudging him at all tho, they might **** up his development quite badly tho. Forsberg is quite a solid prospect but you need to develop him right

It's pretty hard to misjudge a player at #2.

Rounds 2-7

2 names that come to mind that IMO would look awful good in Wild green..2 locals..
Jake MCabe Wisconsin Badgers & Zach Stepan SSM's..Both players from what i hear were tremendous at the Combine, and both play with a litlle sandpaper in their jock's. Something this franchise is starving for.. Thoughts?.. Anyone else?

The ringleaders here took him in their mod mock draft earlier this week. He's a pick we all seem to be content with at Washington's spot in the 2nd. Hope he's there.

Any thoughts on whether we should gamble on Frk in case he falls off the 1st round? What about Ville Pokka?

If Frk is available at 46, it depends on who else is available. Assuming we took a defenseman at 7, I wouldn't mind taking a risk on Frk, but not at the cost of a McCabe or Thrower. However, both of them are likely to be off the board by 46.

Might was well just wait and draft Grigorenko. Save an asset. And just as much risk.

IMO, if Fletcher wants to trade up, the ideal situation is for CBJ to take Murray/Forsberg, MTL to take Grigorenko and then swap spots with NYI. In all likelihood they're going defense and there will probably only be one, maybe two off the board at 7. If they're hot on Trouba or Rielly, this would be a good situation for both teams.

Wild wouldn't need to give as much to move up to #4 as they would #2, and NYI could very well end up with the D they want.

I came away impressed watching him as a freshman D at Wisconsin this year.

Galchenyuk is going to be one of the interesting prospects to watch at the Draft between the injury and the misinformation out there. There are questions but how much of it has to do with a team or two hoping he drops to them will be fun to see.

If Galchenyuk somehow manages to fall to us, and we take him, I'll be the happiest guy in Minnesota.
