The New Jersey Devils announced tonight that Steve Bernier will be taking over as head coach, both associate coaches, GM, president, and owner of our fine organization.
When asked about how he felt, Bernier said, "HOW DARE YOU SPEAK TO ME, YOU LOWLY REPORTER!"

Yandle on the move!!!!!

As soon as someone makes an offer I like. Top-6 offense for Top-2/3 defense. We can add pieces from there. Yandle is locked up for 4 more years at $5.25M per, so he won't leave unless you send him packing.

We need a top-scorer badly and defense is our deepest position with Gormley, Rundblad, and Murphy all in the pipeline. That makes Keith available, but he won't be cheap.

We'll also take a 4th round pick for any one of these guys:

David Schlemko
Viktor Tikhonov
Brett MacLean
Nick Ross

And we're looking for an upgrade at backup goalie. Someone who can be relied on to make 25-30 starts a year.

The 2012 entry draft is the hardest to predict in the last few years. Getting a young guy like Zach Phillips was definitely worth moving down four spots to us. We are confident to bring in a quality prospect with the 7th overall. Our new assistant coach, Gerard Gallant, had great words for Zach. We really like his game and he will join his former teammate in St-John, Nathan Beaulieu, next year with the Bulldogs. They will both have an important role in Montreal in the future.

If I'm New Jersey, I never trade Henrique. Kid is so clutch.

Brett Connolly as well as the 37th/40th picks available for a top 4 defenseman.

Also looking for a solid 3rd line center.

Steve Bernier provides enough clutch for five NHL teams.

Trading Plekanec was the hardest decision to take by our new management so far. He was a long time Hab and a great two-way forward with a strong work ethic. We wish him all the best in New Jersey. With that being said, we are thrilled to add Henrique to our organization. He had a strong season last year and he prove in the playoffs that we was able to handle the pressure and play at a high level. He will only get better and we are confident that he will be an important part of our young core along wih Price, Subban, Pacioretty and others.

UPDATE

I'm around for trade discussions.

The 7th overall is available :
- To move down if a solid prospect is added
- Straight up for a great prospect (might prefer a Quebec born prospect)
- With a roster player for an upgrade on this roster player

Yannick Weber, Danny Kristo and Aaron Palushaj remain available for the best prospect or pick offered.

Also open to other offers.

PM!

EDIT : Tomas Kaberle has been placed on the trading block.

Th avalache have come to terms with their final RFA, signing future star Matt Duchene.

Matt Duchene: 3 years, $13.5 million, $4.5 million/season

Also, i'd love to make a minor move and swap one of my mid range prospect + a 6th round pick for a 4th rounder so that I can get into the tail end of the draft.

Damnit I want to trade Rick Nash. Give me something good. A young forward with very high potential has to be the basis of the deal.

Brett Connolly, 10th overall, 37th overall available for a solid, top 4 d-man. If both Connolly and the 10th are involved it has to be a someone young.

Another Trade To Announce:

To BUF: Geoff Schemitsch, 40th overall pick in 2012
To TBL: Jordan Leopold, 73rd overall pick in 2012

I'd like to thank Leopold for his service, and we're excited about our new prospect and our possession of three second round draft picks.

confirm

We move down in the draft, but with another high 2nd in our possession this was a deal we felt we could easily make in order to add what we feel is a very solid, experienced top 4 d-man in Jordan Leopold.

have received some decent offers for Tobias Enstrom, but nothing worth pulling the trigger on. Keep the offers coming. Interest in Alex Burmistrov has been underwhelming, but we're still listening. Eric Fehr's RFA rights are available for a decent prospect. Nik Antropov remains available as well.

The Ottawa Senators have acquired Dustin Penner from the Los Angeles Kings in return for a 2012 7th. Penner, slated to become an unrestriced free agent at the end of the season, was then signed to a 2 year, $6.5M contract ($3.25M/year). The deal also includes a limited no-trade clause in which Penner can specify a 12 team no-trade list at the beginning of each season.

"We feel that Dustin is a capable second line left winger who will slide in nicely alongside Kyle (Turris) and Jakob (Silfverberg). His crash-and-bang style of play will compliment Turris and Silfverberg's skill games well."

The Senators pulled off another deal as well, sending spare forwards Erik Condra and Bobby Butler to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for prospect Joachim Nermark and Colorado's 2013 4th round draft pick.

"This was a case where Erik and Bobby were pushed out of the lineup due to the depth of our club, and to be fair to them we wanted to send them somewhere that they would receive more playing time. We wish them all the best in Colorado."

*Offers to move down from our 17th overall pick into the 20-28 range will be considered if anyone in that range is interested in moving up.

MPS TRADED TO MONTREAL

The Montreal Canadiens have traded defenseman Yannick Weber and New Jersey 2012 1st round pick to the Edmonton Oilers for forward Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson.

We are happy to add a big talented young forward like MPS to our organization. He was in need of a change of scenery and he will get all the chances to reach his huge potential in Montreal. Weber had no future with us and he might have a better chance to crack the lineup in Edmonton.
