Pure rock fans - I really recommend checking out the band 'Dead Sara.'

It's two guys and two girls. The frontwoman, Emily Armstrong, has an unbelievable voice. She can ****ing wail. She also plays guitar.

The entire band just has an unreal grasp on music.

Here are some youtube videos of their stuff. Even if just to hear how raw and talented her voice is, skip ahead to 3:15 mark of "Face to Face."

Dead Sara - "Face to Face"
Dead Sara - We Are What You Say
Dead Sara - "Lemon Scent"
Dead Sara - "Dear Love"

Haha. I meant "pure" rock fans, not "pure rock," if that makes sense.

Beer pong...good work.

I had the Open on until I went out to throw the football with my son. Then I started the steak and I'm sitting her putsing on my phone as it cooks.

My dad's girlfriend is a maid for the Jacob's (the people who own the Boston Bruins, Delaware North, etc) at their estate in East Aurora. Apparently she was texting my dad about how she was polishing some "huge metal thing with people's names carved into it" and how people would stand outside and look at this thing.

My dad isn't a big hockey guy, so he didn't really notice anything interesting there until he was watching TV and somebody mentioned how the Bruins won the Stanley Cup (this was obviously months ago).

My dad texted her back and asked her if there was a bowl on top, yes there is. How tall is it? About 5 feet. Then she sent him a picture of it.

So yeah, my dad's girlfriend spent about a week taking care of the Stanley Cup and she had no idea.

On the suggestion of JB (and others) in the previous OT thread, I picked up a 2 pound ON Gold Standard of Cookies and Cream to try in anticipation of starting a solid workout regimen in the very near future. If I like it, I'll get more. If not, I'll try a different flavor.

Where's a good place to get it cheap, for future reference?

One week until my little boy is gone for 8 weeks. I sure enjoyed today.

Last 2 games in our hockey (sorry!) league have had a few ringers on the other team. We're talking best players in their league which was 2-3 tiers up good.

How the **** can anyone enjoy that?

Even worse, the 2 tonight were ultra dirty. One slew-footed me going into the boards and another punched me in the back way away from the play.

Refs didn't give a damn. They only thing they called is tripping. Slashing/boarding/body checking.. nope.

Out of curiosity, where do you play?

Last week, in a roller game, I had a guy try and chop block my knee because I was beating him one-on-one literally all game.

This thread needs to move forward ten posts so I don't have to look at that awful gif anymore.

Nice Father's Day for everyone, I hope? I had my first attempt at grilling a filet for PK (I had a Ribeye) and apparently it worked out pretty well. I was pretty scared about it, so that was one of the big wins of the weekend. Let's hear about yours.

It was cooked to perfection. I then topped it with a bit of fresh goat cheese. *drool*

And then I had a HUGE m&m frosted brownie for dessert. Yeah, the scale wasn't too nice to me this morning...

Northtown Center.

We were down 4-1 and 5-2 and managed to come back to tie it 5-5, despite their ringers and dirty ****. Felt pretty good.

Always a good feeling. Especially after some not-so-friendly chirping. Going ahead on the scoreboard in a game against scummy players may be one of life's greatest joys.

I had a very good t-bone. Followed by a very good cigar, all washed down with some ice cold Coronas.
Kids are off with their Mom for summer vacation, so it was nice and quiet.

It was a steak-heavy day -- steak and eggs breakfast and then NY strip off the grill for dinner with the family. Toss in a trip to Premier and a mid-afternoon nap while the kids were at the pool with their grandmother and it was a damn fine day. Mojito's, a couple of Sams, and a slab of the wife's flourless chocolate cake with Grand Marnier flavored whipped cream on top -- also not a scale-lovin' food weekend. It was all worth it though.

Last league I played in, a team pulled that stunt in the playoffs, even though the league organizer had rules in place against that. They were smoking us 6-1 in the second period, and one of their guys boarded a younger kid (like 16) that played on our team. That tripped a line brawl, which is never good in rec hockey. (I'll admit I had a lot to do with that; people in their 30s who run kids REALLY set me off. I'm not proud of that, but such is life.)

The guy who runs the league was there waiting for his game, saw everything, and tossed the entire OTHER team out of the league, and refused to refund their league fees. Gave him a lot of credit for having the balls to do that.
